I've been trying to grow purple pansies forever (orange + orange), I must have every other hybrid except purple pansies! Ugh!

I've been trying to get Blue Roses using that method for almost a month now! Every day, I only get black, white, or red roses from them!

That looks overly complicated. I have to use red pansies that spawned from crossing blue and red pansies (from Leif)?

I've visited a japanese player's town today and he's got every kind of hybrid. Gold roses, blue roses, etc. =( I asked about blue roses and he agreed that they were really difficult to breed. =( I'm also trying to grow my own blue roses and I'm stuck at breeding the special red roses. u________u;
I guess you'll have to keep trying. Maybe one day it will show up, and then you can breed more from the blue rose. 8D Best of luck!

I remember reading it somewhere and I didn't think it would work but it did way better than when I would place them diagonally. If you do use it diagonally, just make sure you water and fertilizer helps too.I thought the common knowledge was that hybrids are made best when flowers are placed diagonally? I hope that didn't change.
I'm thinking you get hybrids more often because of the fertilizer rather than flower placement.

Are the people here having trouble watering all their flowers daily and have a beautiful town ordinance?
Because I'm beginning to think that is the problem. I have 2 towns, my night owl when I water everything I get hybrids, and if I don't water anything I get 1 or 2 if I'm lucky. My beautiful town if I water everything I get absolutely nothing (multiple times now!), and if I leave them I get a handful of hybrids.
Pretty sure that isn't supposed to be how it happens, but it seems to be the case after a week of testing.

I have beautiful town and I water all of my flowers. Out of hundreds of flowers, I get maybe 3 or 4 hybrids a day.
Also, I've read that you're supposed to get more hybrids on days following precipitation. However, although I water my flowers, I actually get no hybrids on days after it rains.
Weird. Maybe the Beautiful Town ordinance makes everything backwards?

Make sure to buy flowers everyday to get the silver watering can from Leif.

I'm starting to wonder this myself. I have the beautiful town law, and two of my friend have the night owl law. We all started on the same day and they have so many hybrids now, I barley have any and I'm watering them like mad!

Ah, that could be it, seeing as I have had rain on all but 3 days while playing. But still I get 6-7 hybrids on days when I don't water anything. @.@
Pretty sure beautiful town is backwards. Or maybe there is a limit on spawns you can have each day, but our villagers planting millions is cutting into this?

I actually just got so fed up with this that I did some time traveling to test it.
I would water my flowers every day and see how many new flowers spawned. On days where it rained the previous day, there were no new flowers, 100% of the time. On any other day, there would be new flowers.
So I don't know what's up with it, but it's broken =\
It's probably got to do with the Beautiful Town Ordinance. My sister's town has the Night Owl Ordinance and mine has the Beautiful Town Ordinance, and my sister gets way more hybrids per day than I do. She already has a whole garden full of hybrids and all I have is a measly handful of pink lilies and orange roses.
