This show looks tremendous and I'm definitely watching...

...but then I click on the episode list and 4 of the 7 episodes are 20 minutes or less in length. What in the actual?

I know it's about quality not quantity but at a certain point this just gets rediculous.

I can't be the only one who thought that "you are not okay with" how short those episodes are until I saw the title of the video.

This felt clickbait as heck and was not what I was expecting for content of the thread ooof

Had watched the trailer just earlier this evening, looks good, will also be watching at some point. But that's the good thing about netfix releasing full seasons at once, you can just watch it in one sitting, just think of it as a movie. I would be more disappointed if I had to wait a week for a 20 min episode.

What really sucks is that whenever they release these amazing series, you finish them so fast and are so dissapointed to find that there isn't a second season!

Hopefully they'll start producing more of these great series!! <3

Why does the episode count and length even matter? It's about what they do with it that counts... just look at Black Mirror or something like Broadchurch. And obviously there's also The End of the F***ing World. These days it's easier to spot a fantastic series by how short it is, any bad story can be drawn out for years but it really ruins the quality of the show. I'm a big believer in the best shows are the shows you rewatch most.

That being said, I haven't watched the show yet (half the themes aren't for me), but personally it's just more fun to be able to catch up on something with a weekend or two. And limitations make for better writing.

I watched The End of the World, so I might watch this (hopefully the main characters aren?t so unlikable this time). I?m not sure if the supernatural element would appeal to me, though

That's all true. Mostly my issue is just in the broader sense that shows are being produced with fewer and fewer episodes these days and it just bugs me.

It's not that big of a deal. I just enjoy more content from the shows I get into because I'm not someone who just moves on to another show. I have pretty specific tastes and this show looks right up my alley.

At any rate I love shows like this. It seems to have a dark and dramatic "formative years" tone and I'm all about coming of age tales and origin stories. This seems to be both.

Also Sophia Lillis was just so scene stealingly good in IT that I just can't wait to see what she does here.

that seems to be the theme with shows based off of Charles Forsman comics as “the end of the f***ing world” had the same episode lengths, too. “i am not okay with this” was a good show but wasn’t as well-paced as the latter was and the season ends when things finally start to become interesting. it was good and my short attention span appreciated the smaller episodes but it wasn’t amazing imo

Ridiculous? Dude, why? A lot of shows have a run time like this. Mainly animated ones, but let's face it this one's premise sounds like a Disney show or CN cartoon. And that is not negative. To be honest I dread watching Netflix series because of the hour long runtimes. Just makes a trend out of stretching every story as thin as possible, I hate it I hate it I hate it. This on the other hand sounds like a fresher idea.

felt like clickbait... maybe i might check it out...

But then how would I trick people into looking at my thread?

Just wait until my next thread. Titled after the name of the upcoming Hulu drama -

I think Bradley Cooper is in it...

i watched it and thought it was good! i think i'd have liked it less if the episodes were longer but because it was so short, i didn't invest much time in it so it was an easy watch. i'll watch the next season. i didn't really like the edgy/angsty vibe it has going, and i'm a bit tired of 'edgy teen girl discovers she has super powers' trope, but it was good nonetheless.

I actually like shows like this one or Russian Doll, Living With Yourself, etc that are super short. I don't have an ideal attention span and so a TV show where each season is about the length of a movie is great for me.

I finished this a few days ago and I thought it was good! I wasn't that interested at first because it seemed kind of unoriginal, I guess, but it's really short and I like the lead actors so I gave it a shot anyway and I liked it better than I thought I would.
The ending kinda messed me up, though.

That ending tho. I hate waiting for another season!!! Also Dina is absolutely stunning. I'm def gay for her.
