This just seems sad that I can't find a simple little bagworm. Someone said you can catch them just by hitting the trees with your net, you don't have to shake them. Does this work? I have seen different times on the bug too. Thonky says it's out in the evening 5pm -11pm I believe. But other places say all day. What time are they out? And how do you "reset" the trees? One place said just go in and out of your house or other building and another says save and quit and then come back. Which is it? I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

I'm not 100% certain, but IGN's bug/fish/diving list are always accurate for me. It says they come all day. You have to shake the trees, and if you're lucky, a small brown badworm will come out either of the left or right side of the tree (for example, if you shook the left side of the tree, it will come out on the right side. If you shake the front/back, it will come out on either side). Then you take your net out and catch it. As for resetting trees, you go inside of a building and come out, and all trees will be reset (bugwise).

Yeah you must shake the trees, I don't know when they come out though. It might be all day but in the last games it seemed like it was at different times, like in the evening. It probably is all day though.

no, you don't have to shake the trees

i went around hitting trees with my net during daytime, and i caught one o:

I'm confused, what's the big deal with bagworms? o.o

Bagworms are fairly difficult bugs to find, as you have to shake trees, thus risking bees and dropping fruit everywhere. Even then they're tough to spawn. Catching one is mainly for filling out the encyclopedia and completing the museum. Is that what you meant?

Bagworms were simple in previous games, but they are a nightmare in new leaf. I've exceeded 3 hours in search for them.

Same here, I hit a couple of trees with my net earlier and managed to catch one on my second tree I hit. I'm not sure if it works for bees though but I heard it does as well.

I don't think so. I hit every single one of my trees with the net the other day looking for a bagworm. Not a single bee came out or was caught. And I hadn't shaken any trees, so I know bees were in some of them.

Doesn't work for bees. I caught a bagworm by hitting the tree with my net in one of my towns. Tried it in my second town (hit every tree with the net) with no luck. Went into my house and back out again and tried it again with no luck. Finally after the 3rd try not work, I then started shaking the trees (bees attacked me all 5 times) and I did finally find a bagworm and caught it. So hitting the tree with your net can work for bagworms (maybe spiders also), but not for bees. Luckyly I've already caught bees in both of my towns (now I just let them attack me).

Why? They are easy enough to catch, and its a free 2.5 k bells. Do you have to hit both sides of the tree?
