It seems to work for me, however, it takes some time for it to load. Maybe there are a lot of connections trying to get through? I personally wouldn't know except for that small hunch, I'm not a Networking Expert.

Some of my friends gates are open, but it takes like 5 min. for it to show up on the list, and when it does, I can't go there.

Well, usually when it is down, you can open your gate and view the list of towns open, its just that no one can come or go to a town.

Seems fair to assume this. Maybe Nintendo should be looking into this issue immediately.

I haven't personally seen this message while playing Animal Crossing. I've only played today so far and I haven't tried to access someone else's town.

My friend was at my town and he left to go do something and now I trying to get to him and I'm getting that message too
