I can’t get villagers to leave no matter how hard I try!!!

I have Canberra and Truffles and I’m trying to get rid of them but they literally won’t leave. I’ve ignored them for days on end, never talked to them, complained about them to Isabelle every single day and nothing! One of my other villagers who I talk to every day and love said they were thinking of leaving though... whyyyy! Does anyone know if there’s a confirmed way to get them to leave or whether it’s just chance? Because I want them gone so bad

Not talking to them or reporting them to Isabelle won't do anything.
Move outs are and always have been random.
In New Leaf, when you didn't interact with your villagers they wouldn't ping you, so you wouldn't know when they were leaving.
I'd suggest talking to them.

If you own any amiibo cards, you can pick a villager to kick out when the new one moves in. I also don't think anyone moves away until you reach 8 villagers? Not sure if you're at that point yet!

Thank you guys for the answers! I’m thinking maybe I should at least talk to each of them so I know if they’re wanting to leave! So annoying that there’s no certain way to get rid of ‘em hmm

Apple was one of the villagers I regularly talked to and gifted things to...she asked to go first.
So, like pp said, ignoring them isn't going to do anything. It's just randomly generated.
