I'm trying to delete my sister's villager resident registration who played a few hours on my switch. Her account is another user account on my switch, not linked to any Nintendo account but was able to log on and create a villager when the game first came out.

I've come back to the game a year later and want her house gone. When I try to log onto ACNH as her account, it says I am unable to launch the game due to her user not being linked to any Nintendo account and not owning the game.

I can't delete her resident registration until I launch the game as that user. Has anyone encountered the same problem? Any fixes? Please help

That’s just how you have to do it…it’s how the game works.

I wondering how to fix the issue since it isn't allowing me to sign in on her account, and if someone has ever encountered anything like this

I think their point is that it's apparently not working how it's supposed to.

I'm afraid I can't help, OP, but I can say you don't/shouldn't need a Nintendo account linked to a profile to be able to play/delete a character. Only my main character has one linked, and all the other profiles/characters I've made work fine without one. So I'm not sure what the issue would be.

Is the switch you're playing on registered as your primary switch in your Nintendo account? You didn't state whether you bought the game via the e-shop or a physical copy, but in the former case your switch has to be registered as your primary switch in order for other users to be able to play the game as well. That's the only thing I can think of that might cause this

Is it as the Resident Representative or just regular Resident? If its the Resident you have to go to "Settings" at the start screen of ACNH by pressing minus and select "Save Data" and select "Delete Resident Registration" once you do that the player who used to be on the island is gone as well as their home. However, if its at Resident Representative then I'm afraid you'll have no other choice but to delete the save data meaning that the entire island is going to be gone. There is no way to change the players name in the game or the name of the island so if thats what you're trying to do then thats it.

Edit: If you somehow didn't register the switch as like the main system then it may explain why you're unable to access your sisters account. You may want to inform them to de-register their switch and then re-register your switch as the main system so you'll be able to gain access to the account and do the deletion.

Yes it should be the primary switch on my account, my sister doesnt even own one. I bought an e-copy for myself. How do I double check to make sure its the primary?

I think this thread explains how to do it:

My profile is the RR, her character (the one im trying to delete), is just another user on my switch. I tried signing in and going to the settings screen as myself (the RR) and deleting her, but Nook says he needs to speak with the resident (my sister) directly to delete her account

Go to the Nintendo Switch Online app thats located at the bottom of the screen (The red Switch icon), then select the account, go to top left corner and find "Manage Eshop settings" and then scroll down once you see an indication if your switch is registered as your primary account.

Thats the problem, you want to get into that account (RR) in order to delete that user Registration, but of course you mentioned how that account doesn't own the game which is causing you not to get into the game. The only way to do is to make sure your Switch is set as the primary account when it does that, it allows for the account to play the game despite not owning it. However, if your switch is not set as the primary switch then you may not be able to access the game, only the account who purchased the game is allowed to access it. I hope this makes more sense.
