Or when I buy it thinking I don't have it (and not checking because of laziness) and then finding you wasted your rare TBT on one you already have. You would think I'd learn my lesson, especially because the forum has gotten slow/more about the dlc I don't have, so TBT is harder to get right now. But nope, I never learn.

Ooo that one has happened more than a few times for me. Specially back during 1.x when I was trying to catalogue every single piece of furniture and it's variation. My condolences!

This happened to me with gyroids too. I wanted to finish my collection quickly so I bought the ones I didn't have. In the past few days, I've been getting all the ones I was missing.

This happened to me too, bought the ruined arch a few days ago, then it showed up on my beach. Good thing though as I'm saving the spares of the new DIYs for a friend who's going through it in their personal life currently and so can't play, so when they come back, I can order them the new furniture & give them the new DIYs I've gotten <3

If only Katrina had a fortune that would say "Your DIY collecting will improve" or something like that to make it easier to get certain DIYS you have trouble getting.

She keeps telling me I will have good luck but I'm not really outside of glowing moss islands. I have great luck with those. But she'll tell me I will have good luck with items but still the medieval building side cannot be found.

As for new DIYs, I've been using the amiibo cards I have to invite villagers to the camp site. Smug villagers will give you the decayed tree pretty reliably in my experience. And normal villagers have been giving me various wood recipes like the wood box, wood box seat, partition, things like that.

So far luckily hasn't happened to me, probably in the past though particularly whilst I was hunting the Ironwood Cupboard lol that was a hectic find.
