I have terraforming regrets.

So I've accomplished a lot on my island and unlocked terraforming.

Long story short, I got excited and overzealous and once I was done redoing my entire island I realized I kinda hated it! :')) I would restart but really all I want is the land/map reset...I don't want to lose what in my catalog or my rooms or all my museum progress. I put a lot of time into the island and I feel like I irreversibly ruined it. I don't know how to dig myself out of this without restarting...ugh!

Anyone else apparently not great with terraforming? I'm so torn on what to do...

Forgive my ignorance, as I have no idea, but can't you just raze everything and start from scratch?

do you have any screenshots of the map from around when you first started or at least from before you started terraforming? it might help as a reference for you to get the general feel back of your island's form

if you have a screenshot with a picture of ur map before u terraformed, u might be able to terraform it back to look like it again and start over.

Well, you dug your way into it and you have all the tools. Do you have a reference to how your island looked before you started terraforming? You can work your way back to that and try again. I'm sure you could take a picture of the minimap and have people give you tips on how to get it to look like how it did at the beginning. What exactly are you having trouble with?

as others have suggested, if you have any pictures of your island before, you could always try to revert it back

if you dont have a screenshot of your map before terraforming , why don’t you try planning a whole new map? maybe you can look at others people maps to get ideas in how to make a new one

Thank you for posting. This is something I have been considering as I have been placing ramps and bridges. I see how terraforming could easily make things look boxy or unnatural. I'll be careful when using it.

And before restarting - why not just keep playing with it. Envision something you would like and keep practicing. You may get really good at it and making things you like - and worst case scenario you'll be more practiced for moving on - best case you end up with something unique that you enjoy.

I'm most excited for the pathing feature. That seems pretty safe.

I’ve actually been having a crisis in regards to how I wanted to terraform my island; I basically just added more cliffs and made the rivers straight, however I don’t really like it. Then again, I think that has to do with my original map and maybe I just don’t like it anymore.

I hope you’re able to revert back in some way, or change it to your liking!

Yeah, I just unlocked it and saw how boxy it makes things. I wish we could have a little bit more control but I agree with the above that you should keep trying

I hated this the most! Rivers and cliffs just don't look natural. And when I tried making the cliffs and river natural looking, it ended up taking more space than I thought :/

I feel your pain. I was so excited to have lots of cliffs and rivers and had a clear idea of what I wanted. Now putting paths and fences down, it's really a pain and I sort of now wished I had just made it all a little more "organized" and "straight" in design;
