I heard that clients don't complain?

Part of me is disappointed that the clients will still accept your work regardless if how well you stick to their request; at the same time, I'm going to keep having an open mind about this and I think I'll still have fun playing the game.

Players have clamoured forever to have more control over what villagers have in their homes. Nintendo has given us that control. They'll never please everyone. They can't. If they gave us less control and more consequences in HHD, you can guarantee that there'd be at least one thread complaining about how they missed a huge opportunity, that the game is too hard, that it sucks, that they should have given us more creative freedom.

While yeah, there may be no consequences in the game if we don't design according to spec, AC games have never been truly challenging beyond a certain point. Even if the villagers like whatever we do, whether it conforms with their specs or not, we can simply pretend that the ability to design whatever we like isn't there. It's all pretend, so let's pretend and challenge ourselves to design what villagers have asked for. Chances are good that many players default to a certain, basic style or look and pushing ourselves outside of that is a good thing.

I've decided that I'll design according to villagers' specs to start with, then do my own thing after that when I go back to redesign.

Ren?e, your taste is hideous. This will be fixed.
Garbage-loving freaks: you'll get garbage just so you feel as though I listened to you, then it's MY turn, baby.

Well, I mean they could try a Sandbox mode or a "Challenge" mode option to satisfy both types of players, but I think because this game is different from the typical animal crossing series responsiblites, I like having the ability to design without any purpose or challenge.

...
Well, this sorta changed my whole perspective of the game
I thought that you had to make it themed the way the npc wanted, but I guess now it doesn't matter...?
No sass makes me worried that the personalities of the npcs won't be implemented in the game much either ;-;

But i guess I'm sorta happy that least they won't get mad at you if you do something wrong, which will make it a relaxing game :)

Well, I found an exception to this. You and the villager both need to be able to stand in the house apparently. The game did not like the horrible house I made for Ribbot until I made some room for him. :p

This is actually meant to be a good thing, but all you guys complained when Isabelle didn't accept where you really wanted to put that one public works project.

If villagers would complain the game would not be fun, it would be like trying to put a public works project in a town with 28 rivers. Plus would you really want to spend so much time on a house for a villager that you hate or don't really care for. This was a great decision by Nintendo.

I think if there was a scoring system or the villagers complained, all the houses designed would be super similar with most of the same furniture in different arrangements. I think it makes the game more fun. This way you can design houses the way you think the villager would like or to match the villager, or you can stick to the theme the villager wants.

I honestly don't know how to feel about this. I kinda like it and I also kinda don't, lol.

to have very strict rules is no fun, neither is full control. if the clients had the ability to give different reactions it would be my goal to get the best once and when I get it, it would give me that feeling of pride and satisfaction because it would feel like my hard work payed off, it's more fun that way, at least to me it is. but if I knew they're entitled with anything you do then there's really nothing to look forward to other than creating whatever room you had in mind which isn't very different from new leaf.

eh I'm pretty sure the game will be hella fun and addicting, but that's a wee bit disappointing still

I personally prefer there's some restrictions, at least 3-5 items that the villagers like must be in.

Give a little bit of challenge to the game.
If not everyone will just design the way they want without consequences, so where's the aim of this game?
Too simple without challenge just make this game bored real fast.

Maybe you need to unlock certain level to be able to design a certain villagers house, this will also give you the motivation to attend more classes to unlock more stuff.

I feel you should get a rating from the villagers. Have them accept all houses, but if they score it bad (kinda like the HRA/HHA in main games) then they may turn up and want another house to replace theirs, and then they could have had the unlockable features be unlocked for getting X villagers give you high ratings. Or you only get their pictures if they're happy, as opposed to just for doing their room. But you can do what you want otherwise.

Oh gosh I didn't know how to get back to this thread because I'm new!
Thank you for everyone who input feedback.

I'm also happy and displeased at the same time. But more happy then not.
Sass is good but now that I've thought it over I agree mostly with people saying that this gives us more fun in being creative. ^^

So it's not perfect but when is anything?
I really would've appreciated some sass tho. Haha. :p

I dunno, knowing this makes me a lot less excited for the game tbh. I don't see the point in a game where nothing you do can be wrong and there are no goals to aim for. The creative aspect will still be fun but I was hoping there would be a little more to it than that.

I don't mind that the villagers aren't sassy. It means I can make embarrassing or funny rooms and they'll still like it!

^^Speaking of embarrassing/funny, here is a recent school shot that made me laugh, courtesy of twitter hashtag #achappyhome

I like that you can create however you want, but I think that having negative responses from the villagers would still be more fun than the villagers being happy no matter what.

Disappointed Normal: *frown* "Oh... thanks! It's very nice...*shine*I'm sure I'll grow to love it!
Disappointed Peppy: *cries* this isn't what I imagined! *shine* But, I guess a surprise is always fun!
Disappointed Snooty: *angry* What is this mess? *sigh* Well, I guess it still has some potential.
Disappointed Uchi: Is this the best you could do? Well, I guess it's kinda cool.

Disappointed Lazy: *frown* What is this? ...*shine*It's exactly what I had in mind!
Disappointed Jock: *frown* Seriously? This isn't intense at all. *shine* Well at least now I can focus on my training!
Disappointed Cranky: *angry* Is this the best you could do? *shine* Well, do better next time, kid.
Disappointed Smug: *frown* This isn't what I had in mind at all. *star pose* But it's great to see your personality shine through.
