i vividly remember the release of city folk in america. i grew up really poor, so my mom couldn't afford to buy me a wii for animal crossing ;_; i was dreading the release of city folk because i knew everyone would be playing that game and i would have nobody to play with in wild world anymore. thankfully i don't have to go through that again with new horizons because i got a switch for christmas, but it makes me sad knowing that there are people that are (;′⌒`)

I don't have a Switch, but I'm fine with it. I never really get games as soon as they're released anyway. I prefer to wait and see how everything goes, decide if I really want the game or not once others figure out how everything works, and then by the time I start there are plenty of guides for me to use. I also don't play online with others, so I'm not too bothered if everybody leaves New Leaf.

But for those who desperately wanted New Horizons on release day, you're right, I do feel sorry if they weren't able to participate in things from the beginning.

I feel terrible for the people who want nothing more than to play the new AC game but can't because they don't have a switch. I really hope that everyone doesn't abandon New Leaf just because of this new game. It also kinda sucks that people have to pay an extra $30 (NZD) just to play this new game online with their friends. I got a switch lite for Christmas this year, which I am so grateful for. This is pretty much my first experience of playing a new game on launch and it is so exciting discovering a brand new animal crossing game all over again.

Same here, it reminds me of when I was in high school wanting a 3DS to play NL and my parents told me I wasn’t allowed to get one because it was childish. That changed when I got a debit card obviously lol but I didn’t get to play NL until almost 5 years after it released.

This is totally relateable for me and I do feel for the kids and adults who are too poor and/or may be struggling with abuse at home too. The only reason I was able to get a switch lite was because of a lot of money on a best buy card my mom had lying around that she won from a sweepstake, making the console more than half off. I see those people.
