I know this is really minor, but one thing has bothered me all winter...

This probably doesn't warrant its own thread, but I'm not sure where else to talk about it.

It's bothered me all winter that it appears the plan was to put in all the different members of the snow family, and they just.... Didn't. You can only make snowboys, but the nook miles + goal isn't "build a snowboy" it's "build snowfolk". When villagers talk about snowmen, they don't say snow boy or snowman, it's always snowpeople. It's one of the areas where it feels like a feature is supposed to be there and just isn't.

And anyone who sees me post around here knows I'm not in the "bring everything from NL back" camp. I think NH is great in it's own right. But this isn't me comparing it to NL and complaining... This is me looking at the language used WITHIN THIS GAME... And complaining :p

Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Snow folks and snow people could be referring to exclusively snowboys. But it just feels like the plan was to have them all... And they didn't, or it got moved to an update. It's minor, it hasn't ruined my enjoyment of winter or anything. Not a big deal. But it has stood out to me.

Edit: While I'm bringing up things that don't warrant their own thread, I also just discovered the confetti blower, and it absolutely delights me every time I walk past.

I wish we could at least make different types, even if it was just a visual, but that bothered me too XD Tbh if they let us give them gifts or spruce them up that would have made them a million times better. I guess for now we just make them to spite the dung beetles.

I never even get snowballs.

They really messed up.

No wonder there isn't a snowmam. The only one I liked because she swapped flakes for furniture you could sell for like, 8888 bells a piece. :(

I was just thinking of this the other day and was gonna make a topic about it! It's so obvious that they were gonna put in all the other snowpeople. I was actually kinda disappointed on my first roll, because I made the largest snowball so I can get the bingo game. To my disappointment it was a Snowboy...

My other theory is that it's there (like other things in this game) to be "inclusive".

I miss the snow-family too, I thought it was a really cute change in NL!

(Even though I could honestly do without the bingo game; I hated that you couldn't get the bingo card out of your inventory unless you had a bingo, and that you could only get one bingo per card anyways so it always felt like a waste no matter what. )

But I did like the variety of things they did and that even not making them perfect still got you something out of it. Plus they would've been more of an interesting decorative element, especially now that we can put stuff outside; it seems like such a missed opportunity.

Ngl, I think that this is just one of many updates they seem to have delayed further than initially intended. Whether due to covid or just nintendo being nintendo and changing their mind post release. (Like Mario Makers "other modeS" button that only leads to a single option.)

I feel like they planned gyroids, and the cafe coming much sooner too, seeing as we've had multiple updates with text referencing them as though they were supposed to be in the data earlier, but then got pulled, but they never went back and updated the scripts to pull the conversations.

i honestly didn’t even realize the significance of it being “build snowfolk” rather than “build snowboy” lmao. this isn’t too big a deal to me but it definitely would’ve been nice for the other members of the snow family to make a comeback, especially since that might’ve meant more furniture options.

I wanted the family too. Well, that said, I hope they make tweaks on the holidays we have. Like having the whole snowfolk family back, gift prepping for Toy Day, having the Creepy set for Halloween, etc.

I loved the family—they were so charming and adorable. I’m hoping that they bring them back next winter in a future update, but I’m not really expecting it. I totally miss snowtyke though, and his little snow bunny item was the cutest! Imagine how creative people could be with the full snow family item set in NH :D

I don't mind having only the snowboy but equally I do miss my bingo! it'd be nice to see them make a return in the future but I'm not holding out massively high hopes

YES I noticed this too. It seems like they carefully avoided snowboy and snowman as a general term because of the others. I'm hoping they all do comeback.

They didn't even have to give us different rewards! Hell, I would have accepted the decoration appearing randomly if you make a perfect snowperson, and it just turns into whatever. I was legitimately shocked when I realized that this was it, just the one snowboy. Like so many things they changed from NL (oh my god I know it's a different game but it's the same franchise and it is open to comparison) I just can't understand why. What reasoning do they have for the one snowperson???

Yeah, I think the fact that the Nook Mile reward says “snowfolk” (as well as the generic snowman from pre-NL games still being called “snowboy” implies that they’re going to add the other snow family members in at some point, in the same way I think Celeste having the DIYs for the sci-fi walls and floors means that the sci-fi set is coming back at some point.

What I AM confused about is why the Snowboy’s got the ice series in NH... weird choice for him, imo.

yeah I was kinda disappointed to see they cut this too. I liked catching snowflakes for the snowmam, playing bingo, etc. & I remember the snowtyke had some really cool rewards if you built the whole family.

I actually really like the ice set in NH, but those extra little things would be good additions to the game.

I agree with everyone. and those imperfect snowmen are a real pain.
Maybe, *maybe*, next winter update we'll get the rest of the family.

I really dont want them to do more with snowboys.
I had to remove part of my island to get the snowballs to spawn. I got all the DIY and never want to worry about them ever again

Honestly, that's the one thing I don't want back. The only way I've ever been able to make them perfect was to use the path method with maximum size balls, which usually requires respawning them A LOT until they appear in a place where I have enough space to make paths (preventing me from decorating certain parts of my island) I'm very much looking forward to getting the achievement on all my characters and never having to bother with this again.

The prevision required for this is easily one of the most infuriating things in the game for me.
