So um...While checking my work online, I got a random pop up that was all like "GURL YOUR PHONES INFECTED INSTALL DIS TO PROTECT YOUR PHONE" Problem arises when, because of my panicking, I can't remember if I did push the button. My friend brought to my attention that it was a scam to make you infect your own damn phone.

I installed a few different security apps trying to save my phone, uninstalled them, and decided to just stick with my current one: Hi Security.
Even more problems arise when I got a message on my phone and when Hi Security brings up: KRACK, a virus affecting mostly androids and iphones to see everything you do online and even acces credit cards, emails, passwords, and photos.
I. Need. Help.
My security app says I'm good(I scanned like 15 times today), but I don't know for sure.
Questions:
1) Is Hi Security a good security app?
2) How can I tell if KRACK has infected my phone?
3) How can I tell if any virus is on my phone??
I actually think I could use a beer. I had the worst anxiety attack when this all went down. Please help!

i can't believe a middle schooler infected your phone

Well it wasn't exactly phrased like that. It was more:"Your phone has a virus that could cause serious damage!"

Update your phone, as there are security patches.

Just checked, my phone claims to be up to date.

Idk about an app called "Hi Security" but I personally use Lookout on my phone. I've never had any issues with a virus on my phone, so if I had to recommend a good antivirus app I would suggest downloading Lookout.

Some good ways to be able to tell if your phone has a virus are:
1. A lot of (unexpected) data usage recently
2. Apps randomly crashing
3. Apps randomly appearing (that you never downloaded)
4. Constant pop-ups in the browser or on the phone itself
5. Battery draining very rapidly (though this could also be a faulty battery)

You can go on the internet to learn how to get rid of viruses off of an Apple/Android phone (especially if you know specifically what the virus is).

Hope that helps!

Thank you xSuperMario64x! I'm doing a Lookout scan as we speak! It says so far that all apps are safe and no threats!
Funny thing...Lookout is my default security app with my provider :D

Lookout done scanning; claims to be safe! :D
Now um, here's an instance when I willingly let anxiety take over...*scans 5 more times*

I can't respond to your VM since you have VM's disabled on your page, but if the app detects a threat it will probably let you know and ask you to clean it. If you're on something like the browser and it says your phone has a virus it's prob just a scam. I see those messages a lot when I get on certain websites. I doubt that any of them are real.

But yeah I'm glad to see Lookout is working for ya. It should keep your phone in good check :)

Awesome! Seriously, thank you! Having two security apps really puts my anxiety a bit at ease. It's like having 2 bodyguards- if one falls, the other's got your back ^_^
Plus, it also helps because some had these obnoxious alarms for threats like why?
Seriously. Thank you!!

Hey, you can never be too safe.
Scan it 50 times if it gives you peace of mind. ^_^

No joke, scanning my phone is like relieving an elephant off my chest. Just knowing that what I spend almost 80% of my day on is safe, oh it's the best. My anxiety right now(scanned about 4 times on Lookout and again on Hi Security) is chilling next to me just like = v =
I don't think I'll ever scan 50 times tho XD

LOL!

I'm usually highly security conscious, but I never scan my galaxy s8.

I don't really download anything anymore. ^_^
