In my real life I really try and live by a strict code of ethics.

In my ACNL life -- I also live by a strict code of ethics. I treat my villgers with respect and kindness and have always been rewarded with great furntiture.

It had been over a month and I had not seen GG. Last week I posted a thread and asked "Where was GG?"

Someone posted the instructions on how to pass multiple fashion checks.

I did it and after sinking everything backup ---one of my villagers approaches me to tell me my Uchi is in boxes!!!!

I was complete shock.

No Uchi -- No windmill!!!!! NO picnic basket, No Wisteri Trellis etc.

I will never ever TT again. Now I have to wait until a Uchi appears in the campsite and convince them to move into my town. It could be months before I have another Uchi.

Another valuable lesson learned in ACNL.

..or you could use the villager trading plaza and pick up an uchi character... .-.

I think it's fine to TT, however, one of the rules I think that everyone should learn is that if you TT, always talk to your villagers 5+ times to see if there are any rumors of someone thinking of moving. Then you find said villager and you save and quit until this villager pings you and asks to move and you say no.

TTing a day forward and TTing a day back is still considered a passage of one day. I've found that villagers ask to move about every two days-ish?

When I did the TT trick to get Gracie's fashion checks, I think a villager had asked me to move before, but I wasn't too keen on keeping her cause I had another Normal villager. TTing a day forward and then a day back to do another fashion check eventually caused that villager to be in boxes. It's just sad that I couldn't move her to a town cause she's not popular and no one wanted her. ): Poor Rhonda in the Void (or maybe not since I streetpassed people and maybe she moved in somewhere else).

But anyway. Moral of the story is, when you TT, always check with your villagers to see if there are rumors of someone moving. Do it every day and when you find that there is a rumor, dissuade the villager from their plans.

When will you people stop calling time travelling cheating? It isn't. Geez.

It's your own fault for not knowing the risks. Always check other people's experiences before trying it yourself.

agreed! TTing is not cheating.

Fl0ra and Kippla, I agree!, TT has been stated as not cheating.

And there's many cycling and giveaways here so I am sure you would find an Uchi somewhere for free!

Aw darn, I hope you get another Uchi and it wasn't your favorite villager. :/

Hopefully you'll be more careful next time you cheat. I'd hate to see something like this happen again.

It's so easy to get free villagers if your sole criterium is a certain personality. Just sayin', it's not worth freaking out over.

If tting was "cheating" why did the game creators put it in the game?

While TTing doesn't bother me at all, I think the reason the ability to alter the date and time was put in the game is so you're not screwed if you're calendar/clock gets out of whack, not because it's how Nintendo intended for the game to be played.

Just get an unpopular uchi like Renee free from the giveaway board and stop complaining. :/

The fact that the villagers actually acknowledge when you're a time traveler seems to indicate Nintendo intended to give people a choice, imo.

I personally think time-traveling is an included function for that reason and also because some people's schedules are so restrictive that the only feasible way to play through certain important holidays or to get to do things that are only scheduled to happen certain times of the day is for these people to be able to change their time to the time they want to play during. I know people who have to work on Christmas day, for example, so they'll probably time travel a day ahead/a day behind to be able to play that day, or Thanksgiving (a very busy day for people who work retail, especially overnight workers).

Visit google Japan and look for the article about Animal Crossing New Leaf. I found it when I was researching financials about Nintendo. The article can be translated into English

The developers put the TT feature in the game for the times you might have missed an event in ACNL because there was something occurring in your real life.

The article also stated that the developers were disappointed in the ones who did TT because those individuals were disrespecting all of the creativity behind ACNL.

Bottom line---- if the developers think TT is cheating -- it is cheating.

I knew this thread was gonna escalate quickly..

For the OP, there are always people giving away Uchi villagers for free on the Plaza, because most (sans Muffy, Phoebe and Mira) are actually pretty unpopular..

For the rest of you.. TT'ing is hardly the same as using an action replay is it.. And if it was that much of an issue, Nintendo would have found a way to stop players from doing it.. In fact, Nintendo have helped out TT'ers more in NL, thanks to the grass regrow thing

I agree, when people visit my town in a dream my villagers tell me, "I dreamed about -Mayor Name- from -Town Name-, they seemed like a real time traveller to me". I never thought I'd time travel, but it actually helps out a lot with certain things. Especially if you're looking for certain items in Nook's Homes or T.I.Y.

I try to be careful when I do it, because I haven't been TTing often so I'm not that sure how to do it yet lol, so I only go forward about 2 days then talk to my villagers and make sure no one I like is thinking of moving.
