I think this game discourages resetting

Think about it. You have to sit through long starting tutorial where Timmy and Tommy talk for days. Then after you finally make it on the island, nothing is unlocked, you can only access a portion of the island, no museum, no shops.... and if you don't time travel, it will take you at least 2 days or so to get the museum (and only then can you access the entire island after 2 real life days), including the 'building' day and you have to do a lot of stuff to get the residential services upgraded and Nook's Cranny. And the only things you can do is catch bugs and fish, you can't even access the fossils until after Blathers comes. I don't know how long it took anyone else it took me from last Friday to yesterday (playing every day) just to get the Residential Services upgrade.

So with that being said, I honestly believe this game was set up to discourage resetting. What do you guys think?

Sure, but they also provide a lot of good things so you don't even have to consider resetting too much.

maybe - it’s still up to people if they want to reset but since you’re essentially building your island from scratch, resetting would be a pain to do. i don’t think nintendo is necessarily discouraging resetting but it would take a while to get back to where you were without tt

All I know is, I'd hate to start over and do all that work again. Blthy.

Yeah, earning money does give you a lot to do, but the beginning is pretty grueling and grindy. But it could just be me thinking this though since I'm a habitual resetter.

I'm planning on restarting soon. My friend plans on buying my partner a Switch, which means ultimately, we'll have two islands.

It's funny to think about, but I'll have to invite my friends over to "help move" before I reset - they'll need to come over and hold my items, including my Crown, at their islands until I reset.

I never once thought about resetting, even after getting my least wanted fruit (pears), least wanted airport color (blue), and least wanted flowers (cosmos).

I freaking love this game so much! Caught the final fish of the month just last night, so now it's time to relax.

2nd day you can get a ladder and pole from another player. My main island dropped by my 2nd island on day 2. I was able to explore the whole island. Island one collected all the pears and some flowers before resetting.

Last night restarted island 2 and found Cherries and a nice set up. Donated fish to Tom and collected 15 fish/bug for the museum.
Island 1 dropped by and built a ladder for Island 2. After I left Island 2 was able to get to the top of the island.

Ask in trades for a ladder, shovel and pole so you can explore before keeping the island. Or invite someone over and borrow their ladder and pole so you can explore the island. If the island doesn't work offer fruit/flowers as a thank you.
