It sucks when a good cafe thread gets shut down because of younger users. I think we should have a cafe subforum made for older members

Let's do it (๑?̀ㅂ?́)و

As an older user, I can see where you're coming from with this, but I can't see how it'd be enforced. It sounds terribly elitist. Some older people are real buttheads while some younger people can easily be mistaken for older because of their maturity.

Also, it's horribly easy to lie about your age online, so just I don't see how it would work.

Well it could be for more mature users

Again, what would be the guidelines for that? Wouldn't it feel like it's just excluding people because, say, they made a bad comment or forum after a bad day? Lack of judgment doesn't always indicating a maturity level, just like age.

I don't know. To me, it feels like it could just end up terribly elitist and cause more issues than it weeds out.

As for guidelines I'm not sure.

This is just an idea for the staff

This has been an idea for ages.

I know some mods have supported it but because of the issues MorningStar brought up, as far as I'm aware, it isn't happening any time soon.

Would it be nice? Sure, but it's just too easy to disguise yourself online and gain access to something like that. It's been an idea for a long time, but there's no way to weed out who's mature and who's not, not to mention the people that would say "oh why can't I have access, I'm mature!".

Literally no one would say to themselves "I'm not mature enough to post a thread here".

i think it's a good idea.. kind of? like, some discussion threads are locked because they aren't suitable for younger members (often because of sexual content) and it would be nice to have somewhere to discuss those kinds of topics, but at the same time tbt is a children safe forum so maybe it would be more suitable to just find another platform for these discussions? idk

as for ways to make sure that users who don't want to see those kind of posts maybe there could be a setting where you could enable or disable if you'd be able to view the subforum

If you're here looking for a mature discussion then you're looking in the wrong place.

There is no such thing as "mature" on this website. It sounds like a good idea but it would NEVER work, sadly. Should I mention all those wonderful threads that were recently closed over at Brewster's Cafe? A pok?mon sub forum would be nice on the TBT Marketplace, though! ;)

While sifting through the Pokemon threads can be annoying I hardly see enough to even make 1 full page on a board

I could have sworn you've said you're 14 multiple times

hm

nope, I was born in 1998

hmm maybe, but all the weird and random threads on brewster's and the basement is what makes this site so addicting tho

I'm pretty sure there's plenty enough for more than one. And I agree that it's really annoying to sort through the pokemon threads.

Yeah I honestly don't think this is a good idea, speaking about things that are unsuitable for younger members (I guess that's what you mean? Or just because of arguments) things would most probably just get waay too heated all the time and that would not be worth it, and also like others have said, lying about your age is pretty easy. I get why you want it and it's an interesting idea, I just don't think it'll work at all
