I don't know if this idea has been suggested before, but I think it would be a cool idea to get bell bonuses for how much discussion or conversation your thread brings up. The moderators and admins seem like to like legitimate discussion, so this would be a good idea to reward those who actually spark such discussion.

My idea is that if someone's thread passes a certain word count the thread maker would get a small tbt bonus for creating the thread. The word count would be high and there could be two or three word number benchmarks the thread could pass while receiving a reasonable (not crazy) tbt bell bonus.

I don't know if this is even able to be implemented or has been suggested before, but what do you all think?

I've thought the same thing on the rare occasion when a topic i started took off -- but it would be totally abused by people forming agreements to chat up each other's threads...

Basically what King Dad said.
Also I'd imagine even more people would start threads with the sole intent of having a big argument start on it, at least in Brewster's.

Maybe make it so the rules are that your thread has to have a legit discussion, not a petty argument?

Post quantity is not relevant to post quality. Someone typing a lot is not necessarily adding any good discussion value to their post. And of course threads that tend to get a lot of posts really fast often tend to be flame wars or spam, and we would not want to promote that.

Something like this, that actually rewards good discussion, would take us a lot of manual work to implement and monitor as it would need to be done on a case by case basis to make sure it is fair. And this would probably cause arguments where people disagree with our judgements. I honestly don't see it happening. It would take up a lot of our time and we could be better using that time to plan improvements for the forum, do reports, and organise events.

Ok but just to point out people like me here on the TBT have trouble making TBT especially now since you lowered the bells gained by polls, your a mod, you can generate bells anytime you want, you mods really should think more about the people here on the TBT than yourselves

Make longer posts. Post in the Animal Crossing boards. Offer to review Dream Towns. Sell in-game items. Sell some of your collectibles. Sell art, graphics, pokemon, or other offsite things granted it doesn't go against the rules. It's not hard to make TBT.

Yes but I don't have that much to offer, as I have issues with gaining stuff, I have pokemon, and I will be giving them away, but I haven't decided when yet, I have like no good collectibles, and the more you post the less TBT you make

To follow up with nvll's points, you did have a cycling thread, all you need to do is follow through with it. I don't get why you stopped if you're still seeking TBT and making comments like these.

We don't generate bells for ourselves even though we have the ability to. We've all earned our own bells. All of mine are simply through posting -- I don't sell collectibles, villagers, art, or other services -- so do not think for a second that we don't understand.

Please have more respect for the sheer amount of time and effort we put into running this site on a daily basis.

Ok first did I question how you run this site? Ok let me explain I don't believe you earned all your collectibles as MOST seem to be from Justin, who literally I bet generates the collectibles on his own, not to mention how you basically can get whatever you want
And if I saw a person like me struggling on the TBT I would give them bells, is it really that hard? I mean like come on

That small amount of collectibles can gain you over 100tbt. In-game items tend to only go for a small amount of TBT but the amount can add up to a lot if you sell a lot; you never know what people will want to buy. As for your pokemon, if you need TBT, sell them instead of giving them away.

Also the more you post the more TBT you get, I don't know how you figured it'd make less?

Yeah I forgot about selling pokemon, but I can do that, and I may just do the advice you gave me, and I sware if you post more you get less might be wrong x3

Also i know that art sells for a lot, but I can't make art lol, I would miserably fail :)

Editing posts takes away a tiny amount of bells if I remember correctly but every post you make gives you bells, even if just a fraction of one.
Also if you have a lot of in-game bells you can sell some of those, though 1 tbt is like 200,000 in-game bells.

You say we care more about ourselves than the users, which is false. You don't seem to respect just how much we do nor the fact it is for the users sake.

I said bells; not collectibles. I absolutely earned all my bells myself simply from posting.

As for collectibles, we all receive the new collectibles as a perk of the job that is no secret. It's because we are unable to obtain most collectibles ourselves due to many of them being exclusive to things we are not allowed to participate in. When you become staff, you give up being allowed to participate in more of the 'fun' stuff on TBT because it's your job to organise those things instead. Receiving collectibles from the events we put time into running is the one thing we actually 'earn' from this voluntary job.

If you're struggling to make bells make good quality posts. That's all I've done and managed to make a decent amount. Even before becoming staff I usually had a couple thousand at any one time.

Well I want to be a mod, but I'm 'to young' as oblivia thinks 5 years=1 day, I understand that you get collectibles from Jeremy or Justin, but still, I think members should get something every month, and make it fair, I understand your voluntary job but it isn't that hard, I've seen harder, not to mention this is a site where not many people come here anymore, and sites like reddit have it much worse, I'm not trying to be mean about it, but seriously like you guys have to strict rules on becoming a mod, I wanted to be but like I said about oblivia 5 years does not equal 1 day, I also noticed you want older members, but not everyone knew about this site until 2013, Im not sure if 5 years more on the TBT will work

might as well close this right now while you're at it Tina.

We're we even conversating with you? You have no reason to post that as I'll go on

Nope. You're just making a fool of yourself picking a fight with a moderator.

Round and round the posts get out of bounds :3

I'm making a fool of myself? I was arguing with her, but over something I thought was logical, so don't even think about arguing with me
