Most players who play the animal crossing series are used to the spoken ingame language called animalese
or some of its variations used in the older games like wild world and the first animal crossing on the gamecube.

But what if they changed this by adding voice actors to the npcs instead of animalese ,would it be a good or bad idea? .

They would probably speak in different languages depending on the region you are in for example if your language is set to japanese they would speak japanese.

I just imagine right now if my villagers would talk in German with me (since I play the game in
German) and... Ugh, nope, just... Nope. English maybe works, but I guess it's the best if they
stick with animalese. After all, not only it would be too much work they need to put into the
game to voice all these villagers/NPCs, but voice acting in general doesn't go so good along
with the game. Besides, animalese is something that makes the game special in some way,
just like the language the characters use in Splatoon.

They'd need to use a speech synthesis solution for things like player, town, design names and so on to be included in conversation. And to include villager and item names in spoken dialogue without it sounding disjointed would be very challenging. It's not going to happen.

Mm..no. With the way they talk now you are welcome to interpret their voice in many different ways, and I'd hate to have my internal voice for Nook broken.

I think it would be a pretty bad idea. Animalese has become a staple in the series now, and even if there was voice acting, whether limited to cutscenes like Breath of the Wild or fully voice acted would just take away from the experience. It would also take a lot of work and money since there is so much text in these games.

Honestly, I think it would be a terrible idea. Not only would I find it unsettling to suddenly find my favorite villagers with actual voices, but it would be incredibly expensive considering the amount of dialogue in an Animal Crossing game. I see no need to change Animalese when it's become such an established thing in every game. I already imagine voices for all my favorite villagers. I don't need to hear what someone else imagines them to sound like. Also, since Animal Crossing is able to be played for so long, players would undoubtedly get tired of hearing the same voice lines over and over again. Eventually it turns into meaningless noise.

Hopefully that didn't sound too harsh. This is just an issue I would have a very strong opinion about if truly a possibility.

Besides, animalese is something that makes the game special in some way,
just like the language the characters use in Splatoon.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I feel like having voice acting wouldn't be right for an Animal Crossing game. It just doesn't make sense and it would be changing a really iconic characteristic of the game.

It's like Simlish, it's quicker when you don't have to translate all voice lines, so its a no on me (I know, it's not like they have to translate words in these "The Sims" games, but they still have to translate other stuff in the game like flowers, clothes and the like when its ported to other parts of the world)

Ah, sometimes I see threads in this subcategory that make me think they should turn off tbt earning in this subcategory till the game comes out lol.

That said. This isn't going to happen. The animalese in the japanese version of the game actually already reflects the language, since it's phonetic. But no, this is impossible, and a dumb idea lol.

Not sure if I would like this. I'm so used to the animalese that trying to get used to something else like voice actors might just deteriorate me from playing the game. So, sorry. I'm against this as well. :/

That's a hard pass. I love animalese... if they added voice actors then they'd better still keep an option for animalese.

Hmm for me yes and no. I would be excited to see voice acting in this game as it is something new for this franchise. However im mostly used to animalese, which is a staple to the series.

No. I really like the way characters sound already. Voice acting might ruin the feel of the characters.

There are about 400+ Villagers and special characters, not to mention that our players can talk like our villagers can in dreams and Happy Home Showcase. Nintendo would require so many voice actors and it would cost way too much that if they did that then they’d make a bad animal crossing game.

They’d be better off using how characters talk in the other games they made, like BOTW and Mario Odyssey.

(Yes, BOTW had voice actors, but only during cutscenes. That’s different. Mario Odyssey did cutscenes too, but they thought adding voice actors in their cutscenes expect for Peach would be weird and possibly didn’t want to pull of a Mario Sunshine where everyone except Mario talked)

I feel like Animalese is part of the charm of playing an Animal Crossing game, so I don't think they'd do something that'd be a ton of extra work that actually gets rid of some of the charm. It'd also be hard to do due to the nature of things like that you can type in custom catchphrases and stuff, it'd probably have to be a text-to-speech style thing and it'd be kinda weird.
