Just curious if there's anyone else out there w/ any mental illnesses! I have Asperger's...what is yours?

I have Aspergers as well. I was actually thinking of making a thread for it, but I haven’t got around to it yet and figured it wouldn’t really make sense the way I was going to do it. Anyway, I took speech classes a lot when I was younger and managed to become 50% introverted/50% extroverted over time. I also developed a sense of humor in private high school, and honestly, within the past couple years it doesn’t even feel like I have it anymore. After I graduate university next year I’ll be looking to become medicine-free from my antidepressant and Abilify. I would like to think that it’s as if the Aspergers I have just disappeared, but either way I don’t see myself as any less or more of a person than anyone else. :)

More than I would like to admit lmao

For the most part, I struggle with depression/anxiety, aspergers, inattentive ADHD (ADD), and OCD. I've been seeing a therapist since I was in 7th grade, and over the years despite leaening to cope with these problems my anxiety has gotten worse and worse. Now I've been taking meds for it for a year, and soon I have to speak to a psychology nurse practitioner about either upping my dosage or taking new medications. It's really not something I'm proud of, but I have to live with it every day.

I recently started going to therapy after I hit an all time low in august where I couldn't get out of bed until 5 pm, i wasn't eating and i couldn't sleep. i would break down over the smallest of things plus a lot more details but those are the most important ones. my therapist diagnosed me with depression and anxiety.

i might be getting medication but i'm unsure because i don't want to gain weight no matter what. i'm going to see a psychiatrist soon

^Sorry to hear! Hope you get better in due time.

I have OCD, minor anxiety, and I've struggled with disordered eating for about 4 years now, but I am a very happy person.
I really do love life and love all of my friends, it's just that my body is my enemy lol.

Asperger's. And it's not useful, anyone claiming it's giving them superpowers or thinking it's good celebs glorify it and tell people "how it is"... just no. Yeah if you're a celeb you get heard no matter what and you probably get proper help with that and what might come with it.

I'd gladly have a normal brain.

^What annoys me about Asperger's is the social aspect! It's like, no matter how well you articulate your argument or whatever someone always takes it the wrong way! Idk...I just find people at this point in my life..somewhat frustrating to deal w/ sometimes!

Oh yeah! Like idk how many times people got offended when you didn't even said it in that way or had any undertones... Like okay people need to chill. Also the fact that people don't know your brain gets tired easier and we struggle to find jobs like hell.

I have Major Depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and anger disorders. I was abused when I was young, so I have been seeing a therapist. I am a lot better now, and I love life!

Oh man!! I definitely feel for you guys...mental illness sucks!! :<

Also just have to add to the Asperger(and other ASD's maybe), I love that people can't accept that we see the world in black and white and might have strong opinions. Just let us have that and don't argue so much, if we don't want to have kids and have opinions about it, let it be. If someone seriously gets offended, just chill imo and it's your decision and shouldn't be based on an internet forum. I don't want kids and I'm not gonna hide it.

No we can't see the world in "grey" so just freaking deal with it.
