I'm calling it : don't expect new villager species in New Horizons

I suspected it from the beginning tbh. There are already so many villagers to choose from and I don't see ACNH introducing any new species. Maybe new NPCs, sure! But I doubt they'll even introduce new villagers of the species that already exist in the game and I'm okay with that.

I don't really mind, we have enough villagers anyway. I'd be happy if they focused on the old ones, giving them more of a personality and work on their compatibility with accessories and so on.
However, as much as people would hate it, I think it's definitely a possibility for them to add new features (like new villagers) through DLC.

I won’t be completely upset if we don’t have new species. There are a lot of current villagers I really like. I prefer more depth and personality to current villagers rather than new ones. Tho I wouldn’t mind the idea of later getting new villagers with DLC or amiibos

Amen to that ! More depth to current characters than multiplying them !
