like COMPLETELY restart. only thing im saving is my NMT and bells because i use those to pay for things on here & also i help my friends. but im gonna choose all new villagers, start over ALL my progress. i'm quite excited honestly, i haven't been playing AC since HHD so this should put a new pep in my step.

have y'all ever restarted your towns before? how did you feel after you did it? what was your old town name and your new town name?

I restarted before.
I didnt like my airport colour or native fruit.
I loved my island but those 2 things stopped it from being perfect.

I made a new island and it was great, but I did still miss my original island at times.
That island got really bad framerate drops so it wasn't fun to play any more.

So now I'm on island number 3.
Its an exact recreation of my original island.
Houses in the same spot. Paths are the same. Rivers are the same. Flowers are the same.
But this time it has the airport and fruit I like.

(Island difference are beaches are different obviously, redds beach has moved location, the peninsula is a different shape. Resident services is 1 tile lower down.)

Its been an interesting journey.
And it's funny to me that the destination is my original island but with the reasons I reset it being fixed.
But I'm glad I did it. No regrets.

i just restarted my game too! its really fun, and i wasnt expecting that! it turns out that my old town i had put down too much fake ground so i never got any scorpions/tarantulas. now my town is scorpion full! i catch three of them every night and i just started the game about 5 days ago.
my old towns name was Beameup. my new towns name is Z. i didnt put much thought into the new towns name because i figured i was going to change it anyways if i didnt like the map LOL
im glad that im not the only one thats restarted...i have a thread in nooks cranny asking about someone on here that used to have a recipe island *with all the recipes cheap*. the person that owns that island hasnt responded yet though.

I like the idea of having a second island, not restarting though. The grind at the beginning of the game is miserable to me. Also waiting to unlock everything? Nahhh. I also can’t imagine losing all my nook mile tickets and bells. If I restarted my only island I would probably play for like 2 days then never pick it back up.

Ooh good luck! I've been considering restarting because I haven't been playing at all for months and I want motivation again. My town name is Amaryllis, but idk what I would do for a new one. I like your route of keeping the bells and nmt and such. I'll do the same if I decide to reset!

Ahhh this has many good points... now I'm second guessing eveything I just said 🤣

The start of the game when you have no bells or recipes and stuff is only an issue if you're more concerned about the destination than the journey.

Like without having DIYs, you decorate with what you have and grow your island over time. You're excited to see what is in the bottle from the beach each day.

You have reason to catch bugs and fish and stuff again.

The fossils you dig up matter again.

But if you care most about having a completed pretty island, then of course these are all negatives.

I technically just started my third Island within the last month, but I didn’t play the other two much to begin with (Island #1 for two months back in 2020, then another even shorter attempt a year or so later—life got in the way, and it just wasn’t the right time).

Because I had such big gaps between playing, restarting was absolutely the right call for me. I’d completely fallen out of touch with my Island and Villagers. Now I got a fresh start, and am really immersed into life on my new Island. I chose the same map, so it’s like I’m truly getting a second chance!

Doesn’t hurt that I got ridiculously lucky with my starting villagers:

good luck! I reset my island around this time last year because I had more or less finished my previous island and had kind of lost my motivation to keep playing the game, so I really hoped that a reset would kind of kick me back into gear. it worked - until it didn't lol, i think i hadn't necessarily lost motivation for the game but i was more just burnt out from excessive playing and needed a break. i'm slowly easing myself back into playing again now, but i do miss my previously built up catalogue and DIY knowledge lol. mostly glad i did reset though!! i'd just reached a point in my previous island where i didn't want to really change anything. i think i would reset much more if you didn't have to go through such a grind in the beginning stages trying to gain everything back

Good luck with your new island. I have not reset mine but I did think about it a couple of times. I did get a second island so I could try out different island layouts. My second island was going to be my reset island but now like both of my islands too much to reset either. The only thing that bugs me about my main island is the airport color. Just not enough to have to redo and get back everything that I have.

I haven’t restarted on New Horizons, but I’ve restarted on the predecessors. I regretted it each time. I just stick with my original island. It helped that I was satisfied with my native fruit and airport color. Blue and oranges are my favorite.

Dude, I restarted my island like five freaking times. I was ridiculous, but now I think I'm really ready to settle with that I have.

My character is designed based on my past best friend, I named the character after my favorite chocolate dessert (it's Brownie lol), and I named the island off of the name of that best friend. I got my preferred native fruit (pears), and the Dodo Airport is blue. Everything is perfect. Good luck with your reset!

I restarted my island four times in the span of two years. I ony remember the names of two, Termina and Newgrounds, the latter being my current island name.

I'm still unhappy with my island though, and I'm tempted to restart. But I've already sunken so many hours into that game, and I do NOT wanna go through the tutorial again, or go through the trouble of getting things like upgrades and DIYs.
