I'm not sure about this game. Is it worth buying?

I know it's pretty new, but for those of you who have it, how is it? Is it an addicting game to you? And are amiibo cards required to play? What exactly do the cards do in this game?

It can be pretty addicting! It's also really easy to pick up in small bursts, if you prefer that.

The amiibo cards are used to summon specific villagers so you can create their house. The normal amiibo cards represent villagers that will appear anyway, but in random order. With the cards, you can summon them whenever you'd like. For NPC characters, like DJ KK or Isabelle, you need their amiibo card to call them so that you can design their house. You can use someone else's amiibo cards as well.

If your favorite aspect of AC games is designing and decorating rooms, then this is the perfect game for you. If you're okay with not having the staples of the series, like owning your own home and catching fish/bugs, then it shouldn't be a problem. Just remember that it's a spin-off and not an entirely new entry into the main series.

I personally love it and am finding it very addicting. I have to force myself to stop playing! The amiibo cards are not necessary at all, unless you want to decorate special characters homes, like Isabelle for example. Otherwise their only purpose is to unlock villagers faster and invite them over to other animals homes for parties and screenshots.

Edit: Forgot to mention the cards can also be used to give "jobs" to animals at the town facilities. :)

It's more interactive than how it's portraid. You get to dress them up, summon other villagers to a specific house (with amino cards), and even revisit them and talk to them! Like, they can wear hats. I was sold then.

In my opinion, the pricing was perfect. You get design all of the villager's houses. You get to design the entire Main Street.(should be the same for the next mainstream title.

If you love decorating your house and being able to use full sets immediately, then yes, get it. Like, I've been playing AC since the original on the Game Cube, and I've always wanted to be able to decorate and design the homes of the villagers. This game is a dream for anyone else who's wanted to do the same. Really hoping that this game is a test run to see how popular this function is because it would be awesome if they applied it to future games.

That said, I was posted about my excitement about this game on facebook a few months ago, and one of my friends said that she wasn't getting it because her least favourite thing about AC is the furniture and decorating the houses. Most of my other friends who play AC were pretty excited though!

Regarding the amiibo cards, no, they're not required to play. I bought two packs of them and have used only one of the cards so far. I've been pretty happy with the villagers that have been popping up for me. However, I am pretty sure that with the cards you can summon whomever you like (well if you have that card) when you want, otherwise you have to wait for someone to show up in your village. I think the cards also let you redecorate a village home?

That said, I know you can get villagers to pop up without having the cards. My friend said that she'd give me her duplicate copy of Muffy, and we haven't met up yet to trade any dupes. That said, today I got Muffy in my village so from what it seems, all the villagers will turn up at some point.
