Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.
There are so many options to customize your new leaf town. From dirt roads made from months of running to the maximum use of QR codes for paths, ponds, and cute little details-- have you found yourself going UTTERLY INSANE from all the options?
As it stands, I have 3 cartridges simply so that I can design the different towns I'd like without having to reset. Gathering the dreamies, re-setting plots, placing PWPs in just the right place, it's certainly easy to become obsessed with bringing your dream town to life.
SO, how do you all come up with your dream towns? Did you have a theme to start with or develop it as you found things?
Feel free to ramble on about your town, your inspiration, and even screenshots!
Not really :'D
I just do whatever.
My town is currently a hot mess, though, since I'm way too lazy to organize all the flowers in my town. (The beautiful town ordinance does have its ups and downs!)
I didn't have a theme at all when I started :3 I still don't really have a set theme (though I do like fairytale stuff), so I just incorporate new fancy things I find and try to make it work xD more than anything I want rare flowers to be everywhere with a nice cedar tree forest (i chopped the one i had down and am in the process of slowly but surely replanting it) in the upper half of my town. When the right villagers move out, I'm going to make my third and fourth save files and spend all my bells maxing out their houses and decorating them. Of course, this is going to take FOREVER because villagers I don't like tend to stay for 6 months at a time :U
The title of this thread makes me laugh every time I read it xD
I bought a used cartridge last year to use for cycling and it still had the save file from the previous owner.The town is called Halow'en and it came with a lot of Halloween themed QR codes.I did my cycling on it and was going to reset the town and do something else with it but I thought it would be a shame to get rid of the codes and the mayor so I thought I'd try to finish what the original owner kind of started.The screenshots are what I have so far.I'm not very good at designing towns but since I had pretty much a clean slate and all the town infrastructure was already there,I thought I'd give it a shot.
I.. Think I'll be going for a sweets-theme in my town.
It's so hard to pick and I still don't have the other 8 dreamies picked out yet
I have to stop myself from going all-cat.
To be honest I kind of wish there were more options. Pwp placement struggles and bush limits and tree spacing/tree limits frustrate me. I love being able to have paths but I can rarely ever find paths that I like well enough to use, and I can't figure out how to make my own so it's frustrating. I don't go for much of a theme for any of my towns, they just have to look 'nice' to me idk.

I want fairytale & natural pwps in my town. There are no paths in my town because they made me obsess over something that I didn't enjoy and stop me from playing the actual game.
I really need my villager to suggest the fairytale bridge, I only have 1 bridge and it's getting tedious. ;-;
I just went for it and put things down wherever they looked good. I was inspired by all the paths I've seen floating around, so I decided to make my own. I'm pretty proud of how my town has progressed.
The old town I abandoned was as close to a "dream town" I've gotten and it just evolved organically. It didn't have a theme, per se, but it was well put together and I miss it at times... but after resetting a few weeks ago, I don't want to just do a repeat of what I once had, even though I know I used to love it. My paths were all patterns made in the dirt and it looked very natural and cute, so this time I'm trying to go the brick path route and am trying my hand at designing my own... but I'm being pulled so many different ways, too, because I could go with the "warm brown brick" type thing or I could do a more modern grey brick. Or I could alternate by season... *pulls my hair out in frustration*
None of my villagers have been suggesting PWPs I'd actually want to put up, and I'm trying not to time travel unless I'm moving a villager in or out, so it's that much more tedious to figure things out. I have no idea where to actually start when it comes to consciously designing a town rather than just letting things fall into place over the course of the coming months, but I don't want it to look like a mess in the meantime, either...
The thread title is definitely accurate. Internal screaming indeed.
I never really had a theme in mind. In all my towns, ever since WW, I've always wanted a town filled with flowers where the only areas not covered with flowers would serve as my paths. NL is the longest I've ever stuck with one town and I've finally finished that mission. Now I'm on a path to replant all my hybrids.
my town is very very very messy. flowers EVERYWHERE (beautiful town ordinance) and random tree placements and no paths and badly placed (even unremovable!) PWPs and my mayor's house is too close to a cliff and not to mentioned its constantly swarmed by other villager's houses but you know what? idec cause all i rlly care about is how my houses look and how cute my villagers are :^)
I'm building towards a natural forest town , before I came back and reset my town on New Years Eve, i had gone about 3-4 months without playing with my old town because of the obsession and frustration with those darn dirt paths. I'm once again going to be giving them a shot little by little to see how theyll turn out to be, but for now since its winter season i just laid down brick paths. Right now I'm in the process of breeding my flowers and planting saplings around paths.
I have two cartridges so I can have two distinct towns too
My first, Solstice, is very fall-themed and I have a kind of autumn, vaguely halloweeny kind of thing going on, with a witch's house and appropriate coloured villagers and persimmons & orange/black flowers. It's nowhere near done but I'm trying to get on it so I can upload a DA and get some feedback.
My second is a wintery fairytale town called Chenille, since I figured they were polar opposites and that would indulge my desire to do something light and girly and sweet. It's just started though, so it's got a loooooong way to go. ;-;
eta: I forgot to answer the original question of the thread but YES, i get so bogged down with the details. I go area by area and I'll get so tripped up by something small that I'll mull over it for weeks without moving forward on any other part of it. It's a problem. Especially when you need to move villagers out before you can make a decision on what to do in a specific space D:
