I'm really excited about this! I watched the very first episode when it premiered in 2001 so I'm really looking forward to seeing how they handle the continuation and if it stands up the original run.

I'm curious to see if this will revive "Random" internet culture. Hot Topic must be pretty excited as well.

That being said I'm curious to see how it will play out now. I mean Invader Zim did a lot for internet culture, but now that the internet has changed so much... idk it'll just be fun to see what ends up happening.

i think its gonna flunk unless its like really good... most people who were into that whole scene (NO PUN INTENDED HAH) are grown up now and wouldn't watch cartoons (not saying all adults dont watch cartoons). and that trend is very rare to see now, so i'm thinking this will only go far with people who grew up with the show and scene/emo kids because thats what it appealed to. the fact they didn't show any clips of the remake in the preview is worrying tho

I'm extremely excited about it, but if they "mess it up" by well, It has to be as dark as the original show to be the Invader Zim I love :)

2008? more like 2018 rawr nya guiz i nommmed on a c00kie XD

(i can just imagine it like that tho)

Im interested in seeing how this will turn out. If this reboot turns out like something like TTG or PPG 2016 im gonna be so mad. A sad trend in some reboots (except samurai jack that stuffs good rn) is that they try to pander to the younger demographic. It always comes off as cringe IMO. I'm hopping for something good...

it's not really any of my concern since i don't even enjoy the original invader zim anymore but i hope this doesn't end up like the powerpuff girls. could be good, though

Not be Mr. Downer, but I'm genuinely curious what's so great about Invader Zim? I tried a couple episodes of it before and it was just really weird to me. I couldn't find the humor in it at all. Same thing happened last night when I tried that Rick and Morty show. It was just really bizarre and weird I couldn't handle it.

Honestly I'm not sure - as an 11 year old when it first aired I was obsessed with it and now I enjoy it only for the nostalgia. I think what appealed to me was just how insanely different it was from other cartoons at the time. The humor was fresh too (GIR's stupid 'random' humor hadn't been done to death yet so it was genuinely funny to me).

But on the other hand yeayh, same with me for Rick and Morty. I can't stand to watch it because it's just too freaking weird. I have no idea why my tastes were so different as a child.

Revisiting it when you're older, you realize a lot more of what's happening.
As a kid you don't really grasp some of the things, and it's what could be argued as innocence that makes things otherwise considered disturbing kinda funny.

I can see the appeal for children. It's fast-paced with odd sounds and a comical art style. Kids eat that sort of stuff up. But once you get older you can start to see how twisted the show is.

Yeah, I think that explains it for me. At the time I knew the darkest episode "Dark Harvest" was really screwed up, but it wasn't traumatizing or anything. But if I watched that episode now without having ever watched it before, I probably wouldn't be able to watch it all the way through. Don't get me wrong I like horror and guts and stuff, but the whole aura of the show is just...a little too much for me now. That said, I'm still looking forward to the reboot. The creators have changed I'm sure so maybe it won't be quite as disturbing in the same way.
