Is Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer Worth It to You?

I purchased five copies of AC:NL

You are a true Animal Crossing fan.

If you think that designing houses/buildings is fun, then I'd definitely recommend the game. It's not really anything like a usual Animal Crossing experience. The building designing is quite a bit easier than that of New Leaf though. You can scoot between small spaces around furniture, place things more evenly on the walls, place furniture better where you can move it a half square instead of only being able to move it one full square, etc. I don't particularly care about the Amiibo cards though. I got one with my game and I'm considering buying one off ebay of Midge for $1, but that's about it. Nintendo has sucked enough of my money up, I'm not letting them get more for some cards...

Overall, it's a good game. When people say it's a crappy game, they're usually the ones expecting it to be like New Leaf.

A lot of things you and many other people have mentioned are getting me really enticed to try the game out. For example, having the option to play as much or as little as I want is VERY relieving to hear... I remember growing tired of taking care of my village every day to make sure that it was in tip top shape with the older entries in the series.

On top of that, what you said about the cards is really awesome to hear. I wasn't really planning on collecting the cards (because let's face it, Smash 4 Amiibo can leave a disgustingly hollow dent in your wallet), but I might get a couple to see if I can get a few of my favorites like Isabelle and Timmy. Really encouraging to hear you don't need the cards to have everyone come to your town.

I think the biggest selling point for me though is the fact that I thought of concepts to rooms and houses before this game even came out. With AC:NL, I was constantly thinking of new theme rooms I can construct (i.e. bathroom, classroom, arcade, dining hall, kitchen, etc) for my house when I got all the necessary accessories and furniture. With this new game though, it seems like that can all be done super quickly now! I think I'm won over to at least get the game and give it a try. Thank you to everyone who commented here :)

This is definitely a plus, the fact that it's not real-time like the past games have been. You can go at your own pace instead of having to time travel to prevent your faves from moving out.

That last paragraph you wrote would make me absolutely recommend the game to you. It seems like it would be your cup of tea! I hope you really do like the game when you try it out :)

Haha yeah, I think I answered my own question with that last paragraph :p I am considering picking it up this weekend, so thank you for your input!

In ACNL I made four characters in my first game and bought a second one just so I can decorate more houses, so...

I never expected to get a "real" AC game, and I never expected to get a game I can play nonstop for days, which seem to be two major reasons why so many people are disappointed in HHD. I'm not playing it much these days, but that's mostly because it inspired me to write a town diary/story and I still need to catch up. :)

I think it's a good spin-off, I know we would all have preferred a "true" AC game but I personally really enjoy decorating houses and rooms, it's probably one of my favorite features in the basic AC games so I thought this one was worth buying and playing. I dislike the "Amiibo cards" part but I found that it's a really enjoyable game even without said cards. I bought about six packs of cards and though they're expensive I haven't had any doubles yet. I don't know if I'll try to complete the album, I might, but 5€ is really expensive (sometimes it's 4 online but it's still really expensive for three pieces of solid paper).
