Anyone going insane trying? I swear I've hit every tree with my net and save/turnoff/restart the game to make sure the trees are reset so many times now x -x

I want to know I'm not the only one who's starting to think they don't exist D: Has anyone else had any luck lately?

*ps if I have a bunch of people telling me to hit the trees with my net instead of shake them when I just clearly said I do that, I will go even more insane XD*

I haven't found any proof of the hitting tree with net method, as that would be a failure on Nintendo's part and by now you'd think they wouldn't do something like this, so I still shake them until I see a video of it. I spent about half an hour each day, and have been since the 1st October, searching for this thing. Tis annoying to say the least. Scorpions and tarantulas were so much easier haha.

...don't kill me ^^

In seriousness, I've noticed bag worms dropping when I've harvested fruit. Might just be a coincidence though. I think they know when we are looking for them and make sure to not be around then.

Well I just got the spider by hitting the tree so I saw it work, therefore I'll keep using it XD I didn't even expect to find a spider, I thought they were out of season or something XD

it works by hitting trees, that's how i got my bagworm. i've been lucky enough to get it within searching for two days. really just saving and starting the game seems like the best method, but it is seriously a pain x.x

Well, I've made a special point of hitting all my fruit trees too and I have heaps XD I think you're right, they just want to hide XD Although I've never seen a single one, I have no idea! *Shrug*

From the first post:

Also beehives will drop when you hit trees, so I don't see why they'd allow beehives and spiders to drop but not bag worms.

Are you sure? I've never had a beehive drop from hitting but get tonnes from shaking, I don't think it works for them?

Thinking back on it more, I was chopping trees. So they might not fall when you hit with a net, but will when you hit with an axe.

I have not shaken trees yet, so I will test the net hitting.

EDIT: Hitting with net does not make beehives drop.

I only got one bagworm. Which is pretty much all I needed for my museum anyway. lol. I got it from hitting trees with my net. I think I got it from a fruit tree and when I first caught it, it was night time.

I read somewhere that bagworms will be much more common in November, which is why I'm waiting until next month to catch one... hopefully, it will be a little easier then.

I don't think the hitting a tree with a net thing works. I found a tree with a bagworm in it. Bagworms are like spiders in that if you find a tree with one, they'll stay there until you catch it and it'll come down everytime you shake the tree. I tried hitting the tree with the net after I found out it was there. It wouldn't let me catch it. I had to shake the tree to make it come down and then I could catch it.

Still going and it's now night, maybe that will help? D: aahhhh so over hitting trees LOL

Well as I was looking for the bagworm, I caught a spider by hitting the trees, which I didn't expect o- o So I'm guessing that it's the same way for bagworms, although I'll try some shaking too, for something to do XD

D: i found one by hitting trees very quickly..
good luck! i hope it stops torturing you

i had worse luck with tarantulas / scorpions, i never got either XD

mine was also on a cedar tree, i don't know if that makes a difference or if it's just entirely random which tree they're on..

Thanks for the support and suggestion! I was lucky and got tarantula right away and scorpion soon after and haven't seen the creepy things since XD *shudder*

I was able to catch a bagworm by hitting the tree with my net and in the same motion it caught the bagworm, surprised me. I figured hitting the tree with the net would send the bagworm down out of the leaves and then I'd have swing the net again to catch it, but that wasn't the case here. In my other town, I couldn't catch a bagworm by hitting the tree with my net, so I went back to the normal shake-the-tree method. Took me several days to be able to catch a bagworm in each town. If you have fruit trees that you don't want to harvest yet and/or you don't want beehives to come out, hitting the trees with the net is a better choice. But I think shaking the tree is more effective. Keep trying the net method then go back to shaking trees if you aren't getting any where. Good Luck.

So is actually having fruit on the fruit trees a factor at all? I have a lot of fruit trees but never harvest them, and I was wondering if that was preventing them from spawning in those trees.
