I was thinking of asking for it for Christmas but I'm not so sure.
I looked at the reviews on Amazon/etc. but they all call it boring.. I know you guys are devoted AC fans, so maybe you have a different opinion? Is it too repetitive? Is it too boring without goals for designing homes? Is it too easy to unlock stuff? I love ACNL and have many many hours in it.. I play The Sims 3 (and 4) a ton and probably too much lol and I love furnishing homes. Is AC:HHD a good spin-off? Is it the type for someone like me?
Thanks for any help :']

I also apologize if this already has a thread/is not the type of thing allowed.

I'm a die-hard AC fan so I like it... though it does get a bit boring and repetitive. Basically, the way I see it is that it's a relaxing game. I design about 2-3 houses daily during breaks in-between work but it's not the kind of game that keeps me motivated to play for hours on end if that makes sense... Definitely not the same experience as New Leaf.

I totally get what you're saying! Most people said they recommend 2 houses per day to not get burnt out from what I've seen :]

It's an ok game, i guess. Nothing that'll leave a lasting impression. I used to play The Sims (1) quite a bit and while this may seem alot like those games it really isn't.

I've noticed that I don't put as much effort into furnishing the animals houses anymore. It's extremely repetitive and once you start losing interrest in decorating you're pretty much done since there isn't really anything else to the game unlike New Leaf (or The Sims if that's more your cup of tea) where there's always different things happening.

All-in-all, I'd rate this game 5/10. Pretty much what I expected from a spin-off title.

It can be a bit repetitive, but it's also very relaxing. I would say whether you like it is very dependent on what type of player you are. If you prefer the sandboxy, designy parts of AC, you'll probably like it. I've played it 83 hours since I bought it, so I feel I've got my money's worth.

I really like it, but my enjoyment is hampered my my crushing desire to have this level of customisation in a proper AC game. Like people have said, it's best played in moderation.

I have to be in the mood to play HHD. But overall it's not a bad game. It does get repetitive.. but I like how they have competitions and stuff. Also in the last couple of months they have added more DLC. So it makes it a lot more interactive xD

I really enjoy playing it, I even more so like going back and re-doing the houses however I want to do them. But I am the kind of person who literally drew out blue prints for each ACNL house in both of my towns so I could make them PERFECT! I am a huge fan of home design games, and although I wish you could really "build" the houses and stuff like Sims I do enjoy just decorating in this game. Like others said, it's not really something you can do for hours and hours and still have fun. I also thought I wouldn't like the amiibo aspect but I really do, it's nice being able to invite over other villagers to houses so your villagers don't have to be lonely. ^u^ (I also just love the cards cause they're adorable.)

Competitions? I'm guessing you mean on TBT ;p it does seem like one of those games where you have to be in a certain mood.

I'd also like to collect the cards :] Tangy and Mac moved out (;''c) and I miss em' so I'll probably try and find those two. Thanks :]

Actually, the game has competitions where each month you're given a theme and you submit a picture (I think, not too sure as I don't own the game yet) and people vote.

It's cute. I can't tell you how many times this game has made me say " Ahh, that's soooo adorable". One of my favorite cute moments was when I finished the concert hall ( I think that's what it's called) and the villagers were sitting in the seats watching the show. There were villagers playing the instruments and cute little Molly was singing. Her voice sounded so cute and precious.

Some of my creations aren't very good. I love that I can go back and redecorate whenever I have time.

My daughter likes decorating too. Theres so many villager homes to decorate, so sharing the game has not been a problem. I love seeing her finished work. She has a completely different style than me.

Did a few rooms now, and I must say I really like it so far :D Designing and making your rooms up was my favorite part in NL and the fact this doesn't run in real-time makes it so much more fun, you can just pick it up and mess about when you want! And doing a few at a time is probably the best cause it could probably make you burn out as well.

So if you liked designing the rooms in NL, get this. I'd say don't get too crazy over amiibo cards though cause then it can deteriorate quite fast. Play once in a while and take breaks (with other games) and you should be fine. I got my game with the n3dsxl console and one amiibo card, and yeah it's def. good for a spin-off title. I wish they weren't so focused on the cards though, but money nowadays.

omg they play the instruments. So cute!

cool! I love the new design of the n3dsxl that came with it. So cute..
the amiibo cards, yeah.
it's just another money gab. It's not the worst I've seen though.

Yeah, that and the NL console are really nice :D Oh yeah but most of their things are nowadays so I might get more cards if I can but I'm not gonna rush out and buy the display for 200 bucks lol.

It's just a fun, simple game. Not one you'll play all day but you will enjoy it I think. My favorite part is decorating the buildings. I love designing the school, hotel and shops you get so it's not just villager houses you're designing :> definitely worth a try!

I have the Japanese version, so I may be a bit bias, but I've been playing it since July, and I LOVE IT!! Part of the bias comes from the fact that I get to practice my Japanese with it, and trying to figure out if I translated right or not when I see the furniture- so far I've been 100% correct, which isn't saying a whole lot since I've seen requests in katakana where they're literally English phrases- "Simple is best" and "Halloween Party". I mean those are super easy to figure out. In any event, the other thing I like is that I try to put together stuff I think matches their personality and what their theme is. I don't have a whole lot of houses uploaded to the tsukutta, but I already have over 500 votes in each category! This really caters to those who love, and I mean LOVE the designing aspect of the series, because that is ALL you will do! I'm also a BIG fan of that, I used to spend hours on end arranging and rearranging my houses in past Animal Crossing games, so this is right up my alley. If you don't, or didn't care for that, you should pass on this then.

It's a good game if you like designing things, and it is fun, but it has a tendency to get boring after designing a couple houses. Sure, there are more aspects to it like designing the Main Street shops, which in my opinion is the best part, but that also gets repetitive and it tends to be kinda irritating when you haven't unlocked a piece of furniture which would look really good in a shop (at least that's what I find)

Also, another plus point I guess is the fact that you get more than 10 villagers, I think the limit in HHD is something like 300? Idk

Sometimes you wish you had bigger rooms for all the nice stuff, but it was way less monotone than I thought actually, I'd guess it's because the different themes and main buildings and you can have all the villagers...

Yeah, tbh though it sort of sucks how you have to get play coins to get the bigger rooms (and windows, etc). Not that I have a thing against play coins, I just don't walk around with my 3ds all day lmao
but yeah, as Moko said. one of the good points is you can have loads of themes in a room :)
