Is it just me or.. (Island/Bugs)

This is getting on my nerves for quite a long time now.
I see all my friends and most members of this forum making a good amount of bells with the bugs on the island.
Many of my friends barely take 15-30 minutes to get a inventory full of bugs.

But what's up with my island?
I need about 2-3 hours to get a full inventory of bugs, and I'm not kidding. And I catch 99% of the bugs too.
I watched one of my friends play and whenever he took a round around the island, usually 1-2 bugs appeared. Sometimes there weren't any for 2-3 rounds, but not very often.

I have to take a good 20-30 runs around the island for a single bug to appear.
Yes, I chopped every normal tree down in the middle for the bugs to spawn on the palm.
Yes, I go into the building of the island after catching a bug to reset all bugs/fish.
But it's not helping at all.

Anyone else with this problem or anyone knows how to 'fix' this?

It sounds like your doing mostly everything right.

I removed all the flowers and normal trees and only left two palm trees (which spawn beetles almost every time I come out of the shack). I realized that the bugs never spawn on the other trees, so that's why I only left those two trees. I positioned the trees on the lower half of the island (I don't know if that helps). I get a full basket of bugs in about 20 minutes every time.

What time do you go to the island? The best time for me is from 7PM and later.

When I had about 10 palm trees, usually two beetles would spawn. So I was thinking, if I only had two palm trees, they have to spawn there, right? I made sure they were on the lower half of the island, so when I get out of the shack, I can walk down the center to the southern edge and see the bugs without scaring them.

At least for me, this is the best method I've come up with and I've tried many things.

I do feel as if the bugs are more likely to appear with the least amount of trees.

The day after you pay your initial mortgage, Tortimer will interrupt Isabelle when you log on and tell you about the island. He'll tell you to meet him by the docks so go talk to him, and then next day Kapp'n should be by the docks and you can go to the island.

If you only catch the beetles from the palm trees which range from 6,000 to 15,000 bells (I might be wrong), you can easily make 250,000 bells or more each trip. On the island, there's a storage unit that has 40 slots. It costs 1,000 bells to go to island.

Yes, this is correct. You can go to the island a day after Tortimer shows up!

I only have 2 trees on my island too! but I have the same problem as OP it takes me almost an hour each time I try to catch bugs so people with my problem make less money than their 15-20min counterparts.

Yes, you can catch these year round. I don't really have any proof available, but if you search through you tube vids, you can probably find one that shows a Japanese player playing over the winter in the island.

I have not made any changes to my island. I chase off only the fruit beetles and wharf roaches. It takes me between 20 and 40 minutes on average to collect a basket of insects and usually bring home around 200k bells. If I have to throw anything, it is usually myama stags, as they are worth only 1k.

It just depends on your style. If you walk quickly, you will scare the more skittish bugs before you can even see them.

It's counted as August on the island year round. That's why the bugs never go away.

Anyway, it also only takes me 20-30 minutes to get a whole basket full of beetles and sharks and I tend to get between 300-350k for it. This is without the wealthy ordinance too. If you have wealthy ordinance, you'll get even more money. It also depends on how lucky you are. I've had some days where golden stags (worth 10k each) just keep spawning and I get a lot of money.
