I deleted my save data and miss my old island, am I able to recover it without getting a new switch?

I am sorry to say, but once you delete your save file there is no way to recover it. Even Tom Nook tells you in the Settings that your Save Data is gone your backup data is also gone.

You might be able to contact Nintendo to get it back, I've read instances of that successfully working!

Try contacting Nintendo by phone saying your Switch was lost or stolen and ask if they can restore that save file for you.

Unfortunately @RoxasFan20 is correct. Since it was deleted it can’t be brought back

This only works if your switch is actually lost or damaged. Because the save data was deleted it can’t be brought back because it no longer exists.

Just remember to take your time and don't rush through things. I understand the feeling of wanting to get stuff done quickly, but as someone who has put over 3,000 hours into this game you don't want to burn yourself out. Just take breaks whenever you feel like you're getting tired.

Reviving an old thread here since it is giving false information. I deleted my save data from my Switch in hopes to restore to an earlier version because I could not time travel without ruing my Turnips (I forgot to sign in and do something this morning).

Anyway, YOU CAN CALL NINTENDO! They have to authorize the restore on their end. I don't recommend doing it for my reasons, but if you accidentally deleted it, or stumbled upon this thread because you did what I did, then you can relax now knowing you just need to make a quick call to Nintendo to restore your data, if you had backups enabled. This might also apply if you lost your switch, but Tom is finding nothing. Just give Nintendo a call and they will let you know if they can help.

Your data is backed up to their servers, so no this statement isn't correct:
Because the save data was deleted it can’t be brought back because it no longer exists.

If you have the special New Horizons cloud saves, Nintendo can get your save back after deleting. Though I assume time is vital.

I believe this was before that since it was back in 2021. If I remember correctly they hadn’t set the backup up before they deleted their island:

From my research on it, time is not that vital. They keep the backups for a long time, if not forever, until you discontinue Nintendo Online, but even then they keep them for 6 months after that.

As well, I saw a few posts and videos where people didn't even have Nintendo Online, so can't have the backup feature turned on, and Nintendo was able to find their save data and allow them to restore it. It does seem it is best to email them in that case because one person stated that the Nintendo rep on the phone didn't even know what to do.
