The option got unlocked for me today and I'm tempted... but... I heard of some people experiencing a glitch even in their own towns when moving in amiibos which is very worrying.
Have there been any updates on this glitch?

I had less than 10 villagers when I moved in Kiki via Amiibo card. I'm not sure if that helps any but it's worrisome how others have experienced this glitch. :c

There hasn't been any updates to fix this glitch yet. I suggest waiting until the next update is out and see what the patch notes are, if Nintendo releases them that is

Did you experience a glitch?
I really want Katt and Merry in my town but I'm willing to wait. I've got 6 villagers atm and 2 are in the process of moving in (Boyd and Wolfgang).

No, she moved in with no issues after the third day process.

So the glitch seems to happen when you have 10 villagers and force someone out then... is that correct?
Also, do you need an empty plot before you invite the camper through amiibo?

That's what I've heard. :/ And yes, you go to Tom Nook and buy a plot for 10k which you can choose to place wherever you like. Then when you ask the villager in the campsite to move in, they ask Resident Services if there's space available. Then they move in the next day.

I thought it's a 3-day process for an amiibo to move in.

From what I understand, its safe for the player that's personally scanning the card. But outside of that you may wanna hold back on trying to give amiibo villagers away to others for the moment.

From what I've seen, it's okay if you are moving a villager in, but if you're kicking out a 10th, you need to make sure no one adopts them and they get sent out to the void!

yeah, but I think recently someone also reported their own town glitching after kicking out their 10th villager with an amiibo.

Yes, I mentioned I did the three day process in a previous response. c:

Sorry about that.
But isn't there a chance that someone else could potentially move into the empty plot during those 3 days?
I haven't tried it yet myself but just want to make sure.

hey! this glitch happened to me twice lol, was such a pain fixing it. it's safe scanning and inviting them for yourself, but if you wanna give them away to someone, force them out NATURALLY and not using another amiibo/camper to kick them out. hope this helps!

I'm pretty sure the glitch involves adopting evicted villagers. If you're moving in amiibos, you're fine.

^ also wondering this, i just unlocked the amiibo option and was thinking of trying it but i would like to know the answer to this first

I've heard to wait until the 3rd day to buy the plot :)

That's what I thought too but someone reported having a glitched house when moving in an amiibo - basically I think she moved into an old villager's home instead of her own.

So as long as there's a free spot and we don't need to force someone out, it should be fine, right?
