Is it worth getting Wild World at this point?

I've always wanted WW because it was the first one in the AC series I was introduced to alongside Gamecube and it's incredibly nostalgic for me, but I feel like because it's been so long since it's release and how limited it is compared to other games that there isn't much point. Should I still try and get the game if possible?

YES. I got it about a month or so ago and I've been loving it! Yes it's limited in certain aspects, but it has so many features that the other games lack. The graphics didn't age the best, but they're charming when you get used to them. The dialogue is FANTASTIC.... the backstories of NPCs are touching and moving. This is the only game where villagers have a strong hobby system. Villagers feel more alive despite the aesthetics. Literally every villager feels DIFFERENT even if they have the same personality. I play NH regularly but I still prefer the villagers in my wild world town. I actually grow attached to them and they are hilarious. They show me random letters for anonymous senders which are sooo fun to read. They gossip about one another and you learn so much about who likes who and it's just a lot more in depth than other games. So yes it's limited if you care more of aesthetics, but the villagers are by far the best than in any game.

Just to clarify, I haven't played Wild World yet, but I did play the GameCube version and I've read up on Wild World quite a bit recently. Everything I've learned has made me want to go back and try it, so I've asked for it for Christmas and plan on buying it myself if I don't get it as a gift.

I think it depends on what you are interested in. If you are mainly focused on decoration and customization, then there might not be enough to keep you interested in the game. But if you can get past the graphics and want the real experience of connecting to your villagers, I think it's probably worth it. I've really found myself missing the great dialogue from the early games in the series, so for that reason alone, I think Wild World is worth a try.

I love to hear this! You're going to love it! Such a charming game full of personality. My first ever AC game was GC and WW honestly kept the best aspects of it without changing it drastically. WW made a lot of quality of life improvements. Love the villagers in both games though, they're fantastic. I lost my copy of WW years ago and have been loving my new copy I ordered :)

Absolutely!! It's such a nostalgic game to me. I genuinely reccomend it for a multitude of reasons that of course aren't popping into my head simply because I'm so excited thinking about my memories with it. If you get it, I'd reccomend using a 2ds/3ds simply because its hard to use JUST the D-pad to walk around.

A 2DS is all I have at the moment; thanks for letting me know it's compatible with things other than just the DS. I know most games are, but for some reason my 2DS often seems picky when it comes to anything that isn't a 3DS cartridge.

Everything should be good!! I haven't had a 2ds but for layout purposes it would work better than an old one!! It should work fine, its always worked good with my 3ds except sometimes it doesnt read the card, but my ds is also maybe 6ish years old I wanna say!

I would still say it's worth it. I lost my copy and got a new one recently. Game is fun still in my opinion.

I own a copy of Wild World and I've started it a few times but haven't fully gotten into the game. I'd like to try again, I think! I was wondering, I've heard you can't unlock one of the shops unless you have somebody come to your town or something? Is that true?

Yes, for the final upgrades to Nook's (which includes the hair salon) you need someone to come to your town and buy something.

If you're not able to do it through local play if you look online there are still ways to play... online.

Oh that’s a bummer 😔 I wish the hair salon was separate! Maybe I’ll see if I can find a second copy of the game and just trade with myself. I’m not really great at fiddling with things to make the game playable online 😅

Thank you for answering though! 💕
