Early on, I built a large fruit orchard on my island, as it was one of the best ways to make money without relying on turnips. Now, I'm giving some thought to taking it down, as I have money enough and I can't remember the last time I shook down fruit to sell or eat it.
What are your thoughts? Are orchards worth it? Can they be repurposed as an aesthetic area instead of a functional one? Should I just shrink it to fewer trees per fruit?
Yes, but since you can only give one gift a day to each villager, and you can have, what, 10 villagers at a time, you'll always have more fruit than you have people to give it to.
I have a fruit orchard because I gift my villagers everyday, so I need something to give them. I also have multiple accounts, so I use fruit very quickly.
I would definitely say so, makes a good gift to give to villagers and it makes all your fruit trees easier to find when you need to craft something. For me I don't like decorating with fruit trees around my island either so, putting them all in an orchard is a lot better for me
my fruit orchard is mostly for aesthetics. i love walking through it and experimenting with diff decor every now and again!
but do i think it’s a very good source of money? nah, you’re probably better off grinding for stags or filling up your pockets during dives a couple times. they are very pretty though!
I have one that has six of each fruit type (besides my native fruit, those trees are scattered around for decoration). I like them as gifts (though I generally use coconuts instead) but I also like the look of it. Plus, if I ever decide I want to make an item that needs exotic fruit, I like to have them handy. I really like mine overall and definitely have no plans of removing it.
Very worth it! It takes up space (if you don't know what to fill said space with) and it's much easier getting fruit for people who need it! I also plant bamboo in mine (I used to do money trees, but now I have a ton of money just sitting in my ABD, so it isn't worth it anymore)
I think it's worth to have a fruit orchard! Mine is pretty small in comparison to others because I want more space on my island. xD but I totally think it's worth!
I've long gotten rid of my initial massive orchard I had (and everyone else iirc). Instead I have small pockets of fruit trees around my island because I found that I needed space. Fruit is always good to have on hand, for villagers, terraforming etc... But if you're like me and found that its takes too much space, having an orchard with like 3 trees per fruit work more than well and still looks pretty!
I had one originally and changed it up, but now I'm thinking I'm not sure if I want one. I think I prefer the fruit trees scattered randomly around the island.
Honestly I have an orchard with about 5 trees of each type and I feel it's no longer worth it. I never go in there except to pick up sticks or find fossils. It's honestly in the way I think and I'm coming around to the idea that eventually I'll tear it down or replace it with something else!
I have a fairly decent sized one in the back of my island but recently I've been thinking to get rid of it - it's so far back that it doesn't particularly get used, although I suppose it does fit in with the aesthetic of the surrounding area. as for gifting villagers, I have fruit trees scattered around my island so it doesn't matter too much if I don't have a designated fruit area!
I have a small orchard, 3 of each fruit. I use it purely to gift villagers. It’s a small area so I’ve been able to also make it into a residential area for one villager. Alice is living smack-dab in middle of it.
