I've been questioning whether I wanna buy the game or not. Is it worth the money?

yes, but this is coming from a certified Squid Kid, so i am biased

honestly if you dont like it you can always return it- but most people who have played splatoon find it to be really fun & a breath of fresh air. it's honestly a different experience from any other game i have played, primarily because of the "turning into a squid" aspect
i'd recommend it to anyone who is interested in "team play" games!

yes its really fun! and there's lots of different modes too! and nintendo is re-doing splatfest right now and there's gonna be a new mario themed one next year so its so worth getting right now! hope you enjoy it!

From my personal experience it gets a bit boring after a little while. I’ve got 60 hours in it and playing solo queue can be annoying with team mates not knowing what to do no matter what rank/level you are. It’s fun with friends but nobody I know plays it anymore

Although I will say Salmon Run never really gets old, it’s basically like zombie mode from Call of Duty.

I agree with Ness. If you get the game as soon as/shortly after it's released, then I'd say it's worth it. They roll out regular Splatfests, are constantly throwing you new gear/weapons. It's a good time....but it eventually dries up a bit.
Bottom line, I wouldn't recommend buying it right now unless you get it for a really good price. I've already sold off my copy, and am just gonna sit it out until Splatoon 3.

Heck yes ! But this coming from a person who abused Splatoon 1 lol so naturally I had to get 2 ! I love game sp much !

If you can stand people 80% of the time not taking the time to learn weapons/mechanics/salmon run etc. then yes. Also unless you really want the gear from the Octo Expansion and/or desperately wanting to be able to transform into Octoling it's not worth getting the expansion unless on sale/bundled with the game.

I mean, I do enjoy since I've been playing with friends and/or during the Fair etc. but the online matchmaking/ranking system is broke af. I don't expect them to fix it cause it's "old" already but yeah.

yes and no, just don't expect it's going to be awesome. plus people ****post a lot in their messages/speech bubbles so ignore that tbf lol.

i think it's still worth it, but like others have said this is coming from someone who has it as one of their favorite games ever. it might not be as exciting due to them stopping content updates (aside from the random splatfest reruns they've been doing) but it's still an amazing game that i think holds up really well even without splatfests. there's really not much out there like splatoon!

on matchmaking - i haven't had too many problems with it! there are definitely the occasional unskilled/ridiculously skilled players but if i'm not having fun with them i just leave and join a new lobby and it usually works out. i struggle more with matchmaking in salmon run, but i'm not sure how much of it is me and how much of it is my team sometimes.

also my thoughts on octo expansion.... DON'T get it from the get go, only buy it if you end up really liking the game/want the unlockables. it's like a way better story mode both in gameplay and the story itself but you might not like it if you don't feel very invested in the characters/don't want to play a harder version of hero mode! i had loads of fun with it and watching the cutscenes makes me tear up but i get it won't have the same effect on everybody and i don't want to make splatoon sound better than it is XD

I have several hundred hours in it and it's still fun to pickup and play even if just for a short while as matches aren't very long. Heck I even still enjoy playing the first game, but most people don't have a Wii U plus the sequel is superior anyways.

As a note I'm someone who has never liked the shooter genre in general but Splatoon is such a unique exception. It's just so much fun. It's even better with friends but I play mostly solo and it's still fun that way too.

If OP or anyone else is interested. there seems to be a sale of a few 1st party Nintendo games for $40 each at Best Buy, Splatoon 2 included. I would say it's definitely worth it at this price.

EDIT: Splatoon 2 is actually one of the ones at $35! A very good price. If you're leaning toward getting it now is a good time!

I’ve heard so many good things about the game but personally it wasn’t for me, I found it a little boring. I was never a hardcore player and probably only played for around 40 hours maybe? Reading other people’s comments makes it seem so much fun though!

It's the only game I play on Switch nowadays. I've accumulated 2600+ hours and probably 90 percent of it is Salmon Run, so I guess it's still worth it.

it's a fun game. but it's all online besides the story mode which doesn't last forever and octo expansion is short too. i would rent it first and then decide

I was introduced to the Splatoon series through Splatoon 2. It's definitely a fun game. I will admit, though, I play it mostly for the multiplayer. I don't really care much for the single player adventure thing, but the general consensus is that it's pretty good (and so it the DLC). It's got a lot of replay value, so I'd say you'll come back to it much like other game like Mario Kart, Smash or Animal Crossing.

It's fun to play. I started with Splatoon 2 but knew it existed since Splatoon (Never had Wii U). I had a lot of fun and did the DLC as well. I don't play it often, but I always come back for the Splatfests (there might be one more planned?) or just random game play.

Everyone also assumes there will be Splatoon 3 one day, but nothing has been official about it as well.

I think it's worth it to play! I don't play it much anymore, but have a lot of love for the game.

I've been questioning whether I wanna buy the game or not. Is it worth the money?

Yes! I recently bought it for my switch and I've never looked back, it's an awesome game with a lively community and plenty of loot and weapons and ways to play. It's especially good with friends.
