Is the first day boring for anyone else?

I really spent 5 hours just grinding.. I’m into MMOs like WoW so I’m used to it in a way. I got about 50k bells today as well as probably 13,000 total nook miles (purchased a lot). Been hoarding fish and bugs in my tent.. I’m excited to see what tomorrow brings since I know it will open up more. I think it wasn’t that bad ... just not used to it

Yes, but I remember New Leaf being even more "boring." I feel like in NH there is more "grinding" you can do (materials, creatures, etc) so I was not as bored as I was in NL.

Absolutely it was boring for me!

That's why I bought it this afternoon (the 20th) and I'm already on Day 4... I know it's considered "bad" to TT but I am literally finishing everything everyday - like shaking every single tree and hitting all the rocks and so fourth. Already made 50k bells and made some nice progress with the buildings so I'm happy!

Not boring but I’m out of stuff to do and I’m like blocked off from the rest of my island.

Kind of a weird design choice. I’m tempted to time travel but I don’t really want to.

If I had known it was going to be like this, I would have requested tomorrow off work as well.

Oh well.

i am rather enjoying it, actually. i’ve been playing around 8 hours now and still going strong!

I haven't hit the wall just yet, but am trying to take breaks to get some irl chores done so I don't burn out!

Mainly I've been fishing, selling, placing the non-donated new fish/bugs outside my tent to donate tomorrow, doing a lap for wood/sticks, and repeating until I eventually need to recraft a tool. Still have some Nook Miles task to burn through, too! Managed to shoot down two balloons and got some cool furniture from that. And besides, once my partner finishes up his work, he'll want to make his character, too!

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow, though, when Blathers unlocks and any new additions.

I disagree. I think they handled the first day waaayyy better than New Leaf. I've been playing for hours, and I'm still having sticks spawn if I shake trees.

It's nice to be able to have almost all of the tools from day one as well. I've been able to do a lot of fishing, bug catching, exploring my island (aside from the upper levels, which I haven't gotten the ladder yet) and hit the rocks with my shovel (which seems to be the one thing that isn't respawning).

I’m pretty annoyed that multiplayer is locked until day 2. Really weird choice, and it’s making this first day kind of boring for me. I was looking forward to doing the day 1 fishing/bug catching grind together with some friends. Also, my best memory of New Leaf was having a little ‘party’ with a few people in my town on launch day. I might end up TTing to unlock multiplayer.

I understand what you're saying, because I won't get Blathers until tomorrow and have a preference to give him the fish and bugs before selling them, it doesn't give me much space! But I have had fun doing some crafting, my what a beautiful game it is :D
Bring on tomorrow! I can't wait to go fly with Dodo Airlines, is that how you can invite other villagers to move to your island?

If you go into a building then walk back out the stick spawns reshuffle on all the trees, so I was able to make a lot of bells and pay off my first mortgage last night :^)

Although I see what you mean. A lot of my island is blocked off because I dont have a pole vault and my rivers are sorta close together.

I think the biggest complaint reviewers had with this game was the slow start the first week so get ready for that. Gotta be in it for the long game

Not at all really but I can see why people may feel like that. I spent 6 hours straight grinding and collecting fish & bugs and doing everything possible in the 1st day.

Because I got the game yesterday, Day 1 wasn't that boring. And it sure felt great upon that too, because I got to play it early and got to do the more interesting stuff today. So yay!

It was for me. I've already time traveled a bit because I'm eager to start my town up. Don't really want to wait all that long

First day for me was fantastic. There was so much to do. I played for 7-8 hours. My tools kept breaking but the trees kept giving me branches to make more. I caught so many fish and insects (including the tarantula), paid off the loan in nook miles, unlocked nook miles+ and was able to place the tent for Blathers. Can't wait for tomorrow! It didn't feel like a grind at all. I loved being able to fish and catch insects and pop balloons as much as I wanted. The game is beautiful. Right now I don't feel like I'll ever tire of it.

My first day wasn't bad, but my technical first day was at midnight. I played the tutorial and caught a fish. Then I went to sleep. So, I'm technically on the second day even though it is the same date because of where the days start in the game.

I was able to play for about six hours before feeling like I needed a little break or that I ran out of things to do. I held some oranges back from selling and I'm planning on going to my husband's islands to trade fruit and get a little bit more clay so I can make that ocarina! I can't wait to see sunset and have Blathers move in tomorrow though.
