Is there a reason why Nintendo of America doesn't release too many VC games?

I know why virtual console titles take a while to release. The employees emulate the games manually, which takes time. If they focus too much on Virtual Console titles, they won't have very many new games.

But why is it slower here in America? In Japan and Europe, they get two to three Virtual Console releases a week. Here, we get only one (sometimes two or three). Why do we get only one a week when the other two get more than one a week?

I'm also annoyed by the lack of N64 games on the Virtual Console. This year, we had only one N64 games released, and the last game was in March. Last year, we had nine N64 games released. This is in North America I'm talking about. Why are we getting fewer games a week, and why aren't the N64 games released very rarely?

From what I've read - no one knows but maybe this site will explain it better?http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...as_it_would_impact_new_development_says_iwata

This paragraph in the article was summarized in the OP:

Virtual Console itself is a service that began when we developed Wii so that consumers can play past titles on new platforms, and we continue to distribute various titles now. However, back when we started this service, there were some points that we could not sufficiently foresee about how big this business would grow to be and how the business would expand. For example, Virtual Console titles are generally developed based on the original game software, but this does not mean that we can develop numerous Virtual Console titles simply if we have the original game software. Development of Virtual Console titles require detailed manual work, such as testing if the software runs smoothly on each platform, or making sure the content is appropriate under the various standards currently in place. Thus, we occasionally receive opinions that our pace of releasing new Virtual Console titles is slow, but if we use much of our human resources on such detailed manual work, we would not be able to develop new titles, so we are currently researching how we can efficiently develop Virtual Console titles with limited human resources. One of the big issues for our system development is how to resolve the situation in which we can only release a few Virtual Console titles at a time when we release new platforms.

What I learned is that Japan and Europe are getting games faster, despite what Iwata said. But if the pace Iwata is talking about is the pace that Japan and Europe is getting VC games, then that means Nintendo of America must be very slow. My question is, does NoA usually take longer on each software title than what Japan and Europe is doing, or is that NoA doesn't really value old retro titles?

NoA doesn't value making money

If they don't like making money, then what about the Indie games they release every week? In North America, Indie games are successful as they want to be more welcoming to Indie developers. If they knew Indie games would make money and release them each week, then I would believe that it's not true that they don't like money.

it goes deeper then VC, it goes to promotion, Vendors, Even our Nintendo club suks, look at ACNL, Wifi support.
Its a lack of LOVE for NA in general.

I don't get why NoA doesn't like us that much.

I would understand why the VC service is slow here, but I don't get why Club Nintendo is different. But then again, it could have to be the location. Japan's game market is like Europe's game market.

But here's one advantage we American players get. Each amiibo card pack contains only three cards. In Canada, United States, Mexico, Central America, and South America (basically all of the NA region), there are six cards per pack. And special ones are always guaranteed. And to those who like indie games, we have more indies than they do. We even got FreezeMe before Europe's eShop did.

^Yeah that amiibo cards things worldwide is such a rip-off, I'd never buy like just 3 with risk of getting doubles for the price here (hell, even amiibos are mostly overpriced as hell here).

Also I wouldn't say you are abandoned, at least you get a lot more physical than we do as for distribution.

Never noticed that EU gets more VC games than NA does actually. And yeah the whole 3 cards per pack makes the cards really ****ty to buy. Overall the amiibo cards are kind of overpriced imo.

But yeah, maybe this is cuz I live in EU, but I often get envious of the stuff you guys get and we don't. Like finding out that .hack G.U never was released in EU pisses me off since it's one of the games I wanna buy a ps2 for. Also even though I don't buy special edition consoles, imo the Persona Q 3DS is ****ing gorgeous.

Oh, and another thing. The new 3DS small (the one with custom faceplates) never released in the United States until like last year (or this year), and we still don't have some of the custom faceplates. Every region has their fair share of localization issues.

But my biggest issue is Virtual Console. I still hate how they're releasing games slowly, and how they had only one N64 game this year.

Yeah I don't buy many VC games on 3ds so I never knew either.. And yeah they are like, idek 6 bucks for like three cards here no thanks.

Yeah, and you guys got a more physical/LE releases let alone that Senran Kagura game really...

Haha, agree, it's so damn beautiful and since I'm a Persona 4 trash it's even more aww **** gimme this now.. Luckily my bf has it so I can drool all over it :p

Yeah I wonder why they never did that really consider your market seems bigger but apparently not :/

You know, I could not respect the people on the Wii U Board on GameFAQs because of their rude behavior and disrespect towards Nintendo and NoA, but they're right. Nintendo of America has treated us poorly. They didn't serve Club Nintendo well, they didn't give us custom faceplates, they aren't giving us enough VC titles, they released only one N64 title this year, and when it comes to VC releases, the unpopular games go first.

I can imagine, I mostly give my opinion on how they treat the 3ds here, which is pretty bad not counting we actually got that Senran Kagura Burst game physical whereas you got it digital (and how bad they handled SMT IV I'm not even gonna dig into) and loads of other Japanese games they can't handle properly...

As for VC games in general, I think the stock here is alright and I don't buy too much... But I can agree the stock can be a bit bland sometimes and tbh they should try and do the same stock everywhere, I mean in EU we have more languages than just English and possibly Spanish so I don't know how far they have to go with translating and putting it up. Can't be that much coding eh?

The VC games I care for are the Wii U VC games. That's where the Nintendo 64 games go to. Wanna see how pathetic our N64 VC is?

The EU VC and JP VC has these following N64 games that the NA VC doesn't have:

Wave Race 64
Mario Kart 64
Star Fox 64
Mario Party 2
Majora's Mask

The fact that we didn't get Majora's Mask or Mario Kart 64 when the others did is very shameful. Why would they not release them here, yet pick up the more unpopular Virtual Console titles from other platforms. One a week is way to little, and one N64 game this year is pathetic. Did they decide to stop releasing N64 games here?

While MK64 and Majora's Mask should be released, I also agree with Star Fox 64 and Mario Party 2 to be released. Star Fox fans were let-down by the release of Star Fox Zero and how it had forced motion controls. Mario Party fans were let-down by Mario Party 10. I'm not gonna get started on Pokemon Stadium since that was never released on Virtual Console, ever (but I still want this game). Pokemon Snap, it was released only in Japan, so it's too early to worry. NoA needs to focus on it's actual audience. We prefer more N64 games on the Virtual Console.

Looks like they released Wave Race 64 this week. But I'm still waiting for Pokemon Snap (and Pokemon Stadium which wasn't ever on VC yet).
