my friend brought this up, but i hadn't thought about it before!

it bothers her when people use the 'face with tears of joy' or 'crying face' multiple times when they want to convey laughter
visual representation:
- ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ or ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ โŒ
- ๐Ÿคฃ โœ…

i told another friend about this and discovered it bothers her when people aren't consistent with their happy/smiling faces or are repetitive with emojis that convey the same emotion
visual representation:
- sentence 1! ^^ sentence 2 ๐Ÿ™‚. sentence 3. sentence 4. sentence 5! ๐Ÿ˜Š โŒ
- sentence 1! sentence 2. sentence 3. sentence 4. sentence 5! ๐Ÿ˜Š โœ…

i don't often use emojis when i'm texting friends, but i've noticed that i use emojis more often when i'm talking to strangers especially on this forum
now i'm curious: is there an emoji or emoji habit that bothers you?

Your second friend would definitely hate how I type on the forums here, as I do that first example all the time. ๐Ÿ˜ถ

I don't usually type with a lot of emojis, most of the time when talking to friends outside of tbt I use them as a way to make them cringe and laugh. But I find them useful when talking to new people and new friends as they don't know how my tone of communication is without them just yet. That's probably why I end up overusing them at the moment. ๐Ÿ˜…

On that note, the only thing that really bothers me is my own inconsistent usage of some emojis.

I hate the thumbs up emoji. ๐Ÿ‘ It just seems so dismissive and as though the person couldn't be bothered to write a proper response. It's like the "k" of emojis. I also dislike "๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ." It just doesn't sit right with me because it feels like "eh I don't care what you're saying or feeling, whatever."

I always do "๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚" or "๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ" lol. But only with my best friend and boyfriend. I think it's way too obnoxious to do with anybody else. However I am definitely inconsistent with the smileys I use. Sometimes doing "^_^" and sometimes ":)" in the same text. I don't really like the actual smiley emojis though. I'll only use those with acquaintances that I know also use smiley emojis.

ok I hate all the cat emojis and the poop emoji like why tf does it exist
I pretty much hate all the tbt emojis too in the style of;) like nooo
others I hate are ๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿค“๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿคฅ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿค’๐Ÿค‘ like pls they're so cringey

๐Ÿ™‚ is terrifying to me it's like ur eyes are looking at my soul

emojis are over used honestly and the habit that some have where they say multiple in every sentence is grating imo

facial reaction emojis aren't my aesthetic so i don't usually use them in regular convo but i do like these ๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŒŸโœจ๐Ÿ–ค

i stick with the classics i like text based emojis for reactions, mostly

OH how did i forget to mention ๐Ÿคช

never trust anyone that uses that emoji

I design emojis as a side gig, so it doesn't bother me how people use them. They're fun to use. It's also amusing to read the posts above.

The only thing that bothers me is style-wise. I'm a bit upset that the poop emoji has eyes and a mouth. Also not a fan of people emojis. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ’ฉ

Unless someone is using twenty emojis in a row--which luckily seems like a relic of message boards of old rather than something people still do unironically these days--I'm not really bothered by how people choose to use emojis for the most part. I'm more bothered by the corporate meddling behind the usage of emojis. FaceBook messenger, for example, attempts to think of every possible combination of text emojis in order to translate them into graphic emojis. For example, last I checked (I haven't used FaceBook in a few years) ": )", "=)", ":^)" and "^_^" would all translate into :), which is annoying because it's highly likely that if I'm scrambling to find alternative ways to input the emoji, it's because I think your site's emojis look terrible and don't want to use them. For God's sake, just let me use text emojis if I so wish!

In casual text and IM settings, I'm extremely prone to spamming heart emojis (particularly the two-hearts emoji because I think it tends work the best compositionally as a companion to text than the standard heart emojis ๐Ÿ’•), which is probably quite annoying to some, but whatever!

others I hate are ๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿค“๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿคฅ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿค’๐Ÿค‘ like pls they're so cringey
I'm going to have to fight you on this one because I love the scream emoji!!! It's so delightfully dramatic!!!

idk what it is about it I just,, dislike it a lot
I guess I'm just picky when it comes to emojis lmao

Nah, no emoji bothers me as much as o__O and variants do. ๐Ÿ˜…

๐Ÿ˜ people who use this unironically fill me with dread

an emoji quirk that i do not like is in the forum. u cant do : ) as it turns into :) and : D turns into :D which are both very creepy. strange looking smileys compared to the magnificent, lovely AND fashionable text emoticons. their winning smiles are hard to replace

I barely use emojis since I have to go into a separate keyboard just to access them. my favorites are usually just the text-based emotes.

and my rare but favorite,

: ^ )

(sorry for all the spaces - forums seems to emojify the text otherwise! but yes, i only type out emoji.)

I am very sick of this emoji ๐Ÿฅบ
and these ๐Ÿ˜ฐ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜… that people used. Also hate this one๐Ÿฅฐ

Wish to block those emojis๐Ÿ‘Š

Why does no one ever use the better emojis

Anybody who uses the ๐Ÿ’… emoji unironically, I will judge. Mostly because I can't see what conversation one would have where that would be the perfect emoji, besides getting your nails done and texting someone about it, of course. Also ๐Ÿ™ˆ bothers me a LOT. It creeps me out.

I think the TBT emojis can look a little silly but Iโ€™m not super picky or bothered by ones people use! I know that I use the ๐Ÿฅฐ face and the little hearts ๐Ÿ’• tons which probably annoys people but I just love them, haha. I love using little emojis to express how I feel. I may not love how all of them look on here but oh well ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

My only grievance with the emojis is when my little o: face gets turned into this :o

I love the :o face but it sets a totally different mood and isnโ€™t always what Iโ€™m going for ๐Ÿ˜‚

It bothers me when people type some paragraph and put emojis next to each word ๐Ÿ’€ like why my guy

ex) Do you๐ŸงLove ๐Ÿ˜ ice cream๐Ÿฆ? Your mind ๐Ÿง  will be blown ๐Ÿ’ฅ if you try our brand! Buy ๐Ÿ’ธ yours today๐Ÿ—“

*cringes*
I was literally gonna mention this lmaooo
it doesn't actually bother me but it's so ridiculous ๐Ÿ˜‚

oh also I do that first one a lot so that's a big oof ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคญ

omg yes that's what I immediately thought of when I read the title. It reads like a boomer got ahold of the company social media accounts and is trying to be hip with the youths.
