I spent an hour on this but I still feel like it's not good enough; I used this to enter a TBT giveaway so look!

I drew it on paper first, then redrew it on an app. Should I open an art shop, since I'm kind of getting better at drawing. Critique is appreciated! Let me know what I could do better!

I need work on shading too, so help me on that!

Would you like some genuine advice (that may come off as negative, not intended) so you can improve?

Looks good! It's better than mine at least ;)

It looks like you're having the same body proportion issues as I am though...... someone else will have to help you on that xD

Art is subjective. You are likely not going to get a set answer on wither your art is "good" or not. If you like it and you spent time on it, I do not see why you shouldn't sell it.
Sell to people who appreciate your art.
Try getting out of the habit of naming art "good" or "bad," use terms like "abstract," "unique," and "meaningful."

The only art I buy, personally, is art from people who have developed their own styles. So if you are looking to start a shop, ask yourself: "How is my drawing different from so-and-so." If you cannot think of a good enough answer, wait a couple months, continue practicing, and self evaluate again.

If you do end up making a shop, good luck! :)

Cool, I shall be honest but kind!

TBH it's pretty bad... But as Jacob said, it's all about perspective. Plus as its one of your first. It's not bad at all! Just the lines aren't exactly neat and looks a bit messy. The shading could use some work too, but all in all its not that bad!

Yeah I have no clue how to shade. I tried to make the lines neater but it wouldn't fix and I was like ughhh.

I traced it on my iPad though, I drew on paper first.

You do shading better than I do. You need to train body proportions like was say and hands too. I don't know which program you use but I recommend you paint sai tools because it has a stabilizer. The stabilizer is used to make better lines since yours seem a bit shaky. Besides that keep practising. Practice, practice. This is my honest opinion please don't feel down and never give up no matter people say. In my honest opinion you shouldn't open a shop yet I don't think anyone will buy from you :( I'm terrible sorry for saying this. Give free art first to practice then decide if you should open a shop. Or maybe you prefer to just open a shop. In that case go ahead.

Ok, so firstly I'd say the body is kinda out of proportion. I'm guessing you were drawing toad? Toad has quite a deformed shape, with stumpy feet, no legs and an egg like body. Secondly, where is the schlera? DW, I used to make this mistake too. Just remember that they need to have eye whites! The lineart itself is quite shakey, too. What program are you using, and does it have a stabilizer?

As for proportions, the arms should reach 2/3 of the thigh, but this varies! Legs are usually half the height of an adult :)

Finally, for shading, I recommend looking at faces, and looking at where lights and shadows are. I hope I managed to help you!

No I was drawing the one who was doing the giveaway. blackjack's mayor, so I could get more entries (200.) It was accepted, so I thought it was good.

I'm using SketchBook Express for iPad.

Hmm.. Well if the jaw line was more even maybe.

Plus I use iPad too, so it really isn't an excuse :p

Ah, I see. Sorry, looked kinda like toad for the hat x.x

Try searching for tutorials for that, and I also recommend you head down to a cheap store and pick up a touch stylus! Having a pen to hold helps much more then people think!

- to be blunt, the proportions/anatomy need a lot of work
- the head's shape is a bit odd
- the neck is too long imo, and it should curve outwards into the shoulders
- shoulders are generally wider compared to the head, but if you like drawing small shoulders, thats fine
- the shorts make the legs a bit weird, it seems like the left thigh is larger than the right thigh

i dont like sugarcoating words tbh, so apologies if anything seems harsh. drawing on an ipad or something usually brings down the quality of what you can actually do imo, everything will be a lot more accurate with just paper or possibly a drawing pad hooked up to a computer. i honestly dont know tips on how else to help you improve bc it looks like you still have room for a lot of improvement, just keep practicing and look over tutorials on proportions

I wouldnt call it good yet. Sure it may be better than some other people's art but its not at the point of quality that makes it "good"

i would say to basically work on everything. things like this will take time so dont get discouraged
