Island designer versus custom design paths - which do you prefer and why?

Personally I can’t stand custom designs on the ground because they look so out of place and very poor in comparison to the island designer ones. Also they don’t make the click clack walking sounds.

i don't do a ton with paths at all, but i aboslutely love to hear my shoes clack against the island designer stone paths  it's just so satisfying to hear it!!

i do use a few custom designs my partner made as stepping stones, though!

I use real paths on my first island and I started laying down a custom path on my second island, but to be honest the custom path is so much more work to lay down and like others have mentioned, I don’t like how custom paths don’t have a nice sound associated with stepping on them. I like to look of a lot of custom paths but I think for my main paths I’m going to stick with real paths, and then I’ll use some custom ones in smaller areas of my island.

I actually prefer custom designs as there's some stunning ones out there, although I will admit when it comes to laying them out exactly how you want/imagined it it can get frustrating when it doesn't go to plan. 😂

I use the standard ones. I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but the one's I've seen and tried looked a bit out of place to me within the rest of the game world.

For a while, I know there was some question of whether or not villagers were programmed to follow custom paths the way they do with standard ones. I'm not sure if there was ever a definitive answer about that.

I only use custom paths. I don't really like the look of the given ones. They don't look natural enough for me. There are some amazing custom paths like "the path" and variatons of it.

I like both. 😁 You can do some amazing things with both custom and default paths. The only downside to custom paths is the lack of sound.

I prefer using the island designer ones, they're just so much easier to use, and the footstep sounds match the pathway. I do use a few custom paths, but they're few and far between. I feel as though a lot of the custom paths only look nice under a filter.

i love both... but with the custom paths, it sticks when you don't have enough room left... & you don't want to remove any of the current customs you have saved... like me :cautious:

I prefer the look of custom but they're difficult to work with sometimes. All the different pieces and the lack of curve.

I think there are pros and cons to both. Island designer is much faster to use, but I like the edge design options for custom paths.
