Sup island journal?!

So its been a while since I posted, mostly because I had some irl stuff to do, but also because I felt like I hit a road block with my town. I still have a lot of open spaces and unfinished areas left to do, but I was having a hard time committing to ideas. I feel like Iā€™m super creative but also super indecisive, and have all these ideas in my head but can never commit. In particular Iā€™ve been having trouble with my entrance. I wanted my island to be a mixture of Hawaiian resort and tropical jungle, but didnā€™t know how to express that as an entrance. Everything I did was cool, but it just didnā€™t sit right with me. Iā€™ll insert some pictures of things I tried in a spoiler below.
EaaPo8WUEAEV6PV.jpg

My first entrance design. This was my ā€œjungle entranceā€ idea. I liked this a lot for early game, but felt like it was a bit simple and I could do better.

Eewt95EU0AAPjB4.jpeg

This was suppose to be my resort idea, but turned out to be a plaza. I hated it lol.

EdFZh6MUYAEs0S4.jpeg

Then I went back to a ā€œjungle entranceā€ as you saw in my one of my latest posts but made it more landscaped so it could double as a ā€œresort entrance.ā€ Looking back at this pic I'm kind of sad I tore it down, it was really cool and pretty!!!!!! But I ultimately didn't like how confined it felt and the fact you couldn't really "see" unless you angled the camera up like this. Maybe I'll recreate it somewhere else. UGH this game is so hard lmao.
Now, Iā€™m mixing it up and going for a ā€œfestivalā€ theme (specifically fireworks festival). I like to base my AC towns/islands around a season, and in NL my town was centered around the floating cherry blossoms in the spring (my DA was saved during that time). As stated before, in NH I knew I wanted to do a summer theme and just recently decided to maybe center my theme around the fireworks festival? Weā€™ll see how this turns out. Here are some preliminary pictures of my newest entrance idea. I still need to decorate it more.

At this point, Iā€™m thinking about saving my Dream Address at 6:50pm on a Sunday night in August. The only downside with this is that I donā€™t get hydrangea flowers on my bushes, which I was really banking on and designing around. EDIT: turns out, fireworks don't show up in dreams šŸ˜© But whatevs, I mean, at least they'll show up in pictures lol šŸ˜”

Yā€™all know my island is a huge WIP, but this is where Iā€™m at rn!! Weā€™ll see what happens, Iā€™m feeling good about this decision so far, but like I said, I sometimes have a hard time committing to one creative idea.

Also Iā€™ve given up on making my map ā€œpretty.ā€ Iā€™m not going to be one of those people with a cute map, and idc!!!!! The actual island is what matters anyways, right?

Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe out there! I am hoping to do a couple more posts later today about two of my villagers birthdays, so see you soon in my next post? Heehee

šŸŽ‚ Villager Birthdays! šŸŽ‚

Today was Chesterā€™s birthday!! Woohoo!! I had such a fun time at his party. My sister even came over to celebrate with us. I gave Chester a green tiger jacket, and I canā€™t wait to see him try it on later. Ankha was also there, which was so cute. Those two have really become great friends. When I decided to keep Chester in the Oasis I kind of felt bad because I didnā€™t think he and Ankha would get along, but they have actually gotten pretty close.

hucksbday2.png

I also included some pictures from Huckā€™s birthday last month! I gave him a DAL pilot jacket, which was totally his vibe. He hasnā€™t worn it much recently though, despite it being one of his ā€œfavorite gifts,ā€ but hopefully its just because its summer? Lol

āœØ Summer Update Experience āœØ

Thought I'd share some pics from my first firework festival last Sunday! This was with my old entrance/town hall layout, so I am hoping to take some really cool pictures this Sunday with the new design. I love the fireworks show in AC, even though its somewhat "lame" its honestly one of my favorite AC events. Its so happy and fun, and really makes me smile.

fireworks+dreams.png

Here is me enjoying the show with my villagers and spending all my money on Redd's raffle lol. I also included some pics of me dreaming for the first time in NH. And yes, I do have a dream address now, but it is not open for the public yet since my town is incomplete. If you reallyyyy want to visit, DM me and I can give you the code, but be aware my island is mostly a WIP heehee. But I suppose you could see some completed areas like the Villas, Oasis, and Museum Gardens in person.

BONUS: Here are some pictures of me on July 2nd 8pm CST diving for the first time!

ā˜  Secret New WIP ā˜

(Before I start, quick FYI I updated some pictures in my previous post today about my island entrance.)
Ok guys, here are some preview pics of another area I am working on. I didn't know what to do near my river mouth near Huck's house/Fishermen's village area and Luau, so I created a little bay with some docks. I'm still working some logistics out and I'll need to add some more decorations but this is what it looks like rn. I'm pretty excited about this area, even though I feel its a bit random, its really fun!!

Eexmb0oUYAIvNoq.jpeg

Found this awesome custom design and updated Ankha's fortune telling stall! (And moved it yet again)

EexmX8fUwAIXX3w.jpeg

Dock preview! I added a fun little pirate area on this side. It reminds me of an amusement park in New Hampshire I visited a few times when I was little. I really like how you can see the market place on the other side.

EexmUSgUwAEV_9E.jpeg

Here is a zoomed out view with the river mouth leading into the ocean. (Please ignore the extra flowers on my beach lol.) This area doesn't look pretty on my map, but I'm honestly over it because I love how it looks in person!!

Guys, guys, guys. Have I got an entry for you.

I have decided to redo most of my landscaping. (Heehee.) So basically this is stemming from the fact that I have this weird open area behind the shops/market place on the third floor that I don't really know what to do with (plus the first floor area in front of the museums and ruins). This was a result of poor planning from me from the early days of my game. So I am going to move some stuff around so that I no longer have that awkward space. I'm going to keep the majority of my furniture + garden landscaping and basically be "copying and pasting" most areas. Areas that will not be moving at all are the Oasis, my house & neighborhood, the luau venue (probably) and the Villas. Other areas (like the museum & museum gardens) will be moved (and preserved!). My goal is to clean up my map by shifting things around and therefore getting rid of dead space.

Next I have some cute pics from my fireworks festival last night! I really like how my area in front of the plaza is coming along, but I'm not sure if that will be moved as well in the end (since I want to expand the area but there is not enough room in its current location). Either way, I will be keeping the furniture layout the way it is, and/or might add a few more items.

šŸŽ† Fireworks Festival #2 šŸŽ†

Even though I just said I was thinking of moving this area, I really love how I made this an extension to the plaza. This video is super cool, and perhaps I won't move this area after all, and just move some landscaping around it to make more room.

EfBRdCAU4AEkcMC.jpeg

EfBRsXhU4AAv5Sw.jpeg

On the left side of my festival plaza, I have a stall that sells fireworks/sparklers and fun boppers and masks. Behind me is a table where you can sit down and eat popcorn and cotton candy (cotton candy stall is not in the picture). The jukebox is playing KK Rally. On the right side, I have a stall where you can use the net to catch toy goldfish (like that carnival game irl), and then not pictured to the far right is an OK motors brake tap game.
EfBR5XlUYAMlXGJ.jpeg

Lastly here is a cute pic of me and Tom. If you don't already know, Tom was one of my OG villagers in NL (my first AC game) and we have celebrated many firework festivals together over the years. I am so glad I have him in my town again so I can keep making memories with him šŸ„ŗ

Bonus pic! To the far left I have a fireworks viewing station set up on a cliff that overlooks the festival plaza and has a great view of the sky. I think I'm going to move this area, but this is what it currently looks like:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
hellooooooooooooo. I am back with another update :)
I don't think I ever really explained what my new plan was, but I decided to bulldoze the majority of my island to the ground and try something new. (If you want to see my new updated map click
here). Previously my plan was to work with my existing map and terraform around stuff, which ended up leaving me with multiple awkward patches of land I had no idea what to do with. SO my island got/is getting a complete make over excluding my house & backyard, the public beach & southern lighthouse, the oasis, and top floor of the Villas. Although clearing out my island was a real chore, I have thoroughly been enjoying having free range on my island and trying out different terraforming styles and ideas!!!
So today, I am going to share three new projects I have been working on. I will probably make separate posts for each topics.
1) the Fishermen's Village
This neighborhood has a special place in my heart, and in the back of my mind I always felt like I wasn't doing it justice in its previous location on the beach. So after playing around with a dock idea in one of my previous posts (post #66 of this thread), I sketched out a new design plan. I decided to relocate the Fisherman's Village to the back of my island and combine it with a loading dock idea off of the secret beach/Redd's beach. I also wanted to have more scenery in my new island plans, so I added a third level cliff directly south of this area. Here are some pictures.
EhbPl8dVoAA6iQf.jpeg
So Sly and Huck still live here, of course. Their houses are once again near each other so they don't get lonely. This area consists of two long docks (with one slightly longer than the other) and a plaza-like area . The longest dock is where Sly and Huck's houses are, and the shorter dock is a mini market place with three stalls- a merchant stall, fortune telling stall, and fun pirate stall. The plaza area is mostly empty right now, but I am thinking about making part of it a loading dock for Redd and the other part a seafood or sushi restaurant.
Larger dock area - a WIP (future loading dock and seafood restaurant).
Bonus - my new Redd's beach design. Although I loved what I had before, it wasn't my idea (I copied it from someone online lol), and I wanted to change it to something that I created myself!
2) The Museum
The Museum was also another favorite spot of mine and I wanted to keep the vibe relatively the same in its new location. I sadly was unable to incorporate the old museum gardens in the new Museum location (but I will probably relocate the design somewhere else!), but did create a nice little garden path to the stairs leading up to the museum. Here are some pics.
EhbYsXYUYAEe-vh.jpeg
Ok, ngl this area was kind of hard for me to photograph since its kinda spread out. But here it is! Same vibes as before, just moved locations. The pathing isn't 100% done yet, I think I'm still going to change some minor stuff, but this is what it looks like right now. In front of the museum I put a mini museum restaurant. It is directly behind and above Nookling's so in game it looks like a balcony or rooftop cafe. To the right I have a little path leading to the Villas. In front of all this I have some stone stairs that lead to a little garden walkway which I am thinking of calling the "butterfly garden" and decorating it with butterfly model. We'll see I guess lol.
3) Island Entrance and other misc. landscape stuff
Lastly I'm going to talk about my island entrance. I redid this area yet again, and present to you island entrance #1001. Haha actually I don't know how many times I redid this area, but it sure feels like a thousand. This entrance feels the most right to me currently, so I think I am going to work with this and see what happens when I decorate it. Who knows though lol.
EhbZ0ylVoAAmy50.jpeg
Here is my current WIP island entrance. Its not decorated yet, and I just randomly added some stuff for now, but this is how the base is looking. I really wanted a diagonal zen bridge and decided to test it out here, and I really like how it looks! This really makes me want to add another diagonal zen bridge somewhere else, so I will probably be thinking about that next.
Also as I mentioned earlier I've been experimenting with different terraforming techniques, and so click the spoiler below to see two random areas that I have been playing around with in attempt to up my terraforming game.
EhbSx_7UwAA7_pa.jpeg
EhbS1cPUcAEFI1-.jpeg
As for what I am doing next, I want to figure out my Luau Stage situation and possibly relocate it to by my house. I have also been working on the area nearby by house (where Diva and Judy live) and kind of giving that neighborhood a make over too, so I will probably post pictures of that area next! See ya :) <3
edit/PS: I also made this cool new campsite area! Its still a WIP but I will probably be sharing some progress pics soon!
i. love. your. island. iā€™m dying for a da, or even better, an actual tour *squee* when it is finally finished. you should be so proud of your island, because after plowing and redoing and terraforming, it still feels very Maui. itā€™s wonderful!
Awww thank you so much! šŸ„°šŸ„° You are so sweet, and this comment definitely made my day!! You will totally be the first to know when I release my DA hahaha, and I'd love to take you on a personal tour! <3
So many updates since I checked last! Everything looks beautiful and the fireworks looked amazing in your tropical town. Btw, I love, love, love your dock.
I'll also be checking back for the release of your DA, I can't wait to actually walk through Maui myself:)
So much is happening on Maui! <3
First I'll start off with an OOTD. Haven't done one of these in a while, so here is my first official fall look now that its October! :)
EjRIAb2U4AA10K4.jpeg
Next, the biggest news of all- As you know my island has been a mixture of tropical jungle with resort living, plus some other in between stuff. I am using the arched stone path and stone path for the more landscaped areas, but I could never quite find a path I liked for the natural areas. So after searching the internet I finally found the path for me. Its a tropical variation of The Path I'll include below:
IMG_3965.PNG
I am super excited about this path and so happy I found it!!!! It looks amazing on my island, and it helped me complete my "local's neighborhood" (which still has not been named) where I live with Judy and Diva. I'll give you a proper tour of it later on since the beach area nearby isn't complete yet, but here is a preview ft. The Path.
RIP my coffee farm idea- I decided instead to move the farm over here! I thought it made more sense since this is where the locals live and therefore I felt we needed to be self sustainable. Besides, Brewsters isn't even here yet lol. I also decided to give Diva a patio + riverside backyard since she is my OG resident :)
Anyways, I really LOVE the way my new path looks over here, it really ties the area together and creates the atmosphere I wanted. I hope you guys like it too! I am hoping to make another post today about my Event Beach. I am pretty sure I mentioned this before, but one of my original ideas was to have a space on my island where I could cycle out seasonal items as they came with new updates. This would give me a chance to use items that do not go with my island's theme (such as Toy Day or Halloween themed stuff). The new fall update really inspired me to make this area now so I could have a Halloween themed area! I am sooooo happy and excited with how it came out and can't wait to show you guys :)
The new path is perfect! Cute ootd too, I think fall/winter clothes are my favorite both in game and irl.
I do the same thing, I have a bunch of spaces in my town set up to rotate seasonal decorations. I'm going pretty crazy with this new spooky stuff, I absolutely love it. Looking forward to seeing your Halloween themed area:)
keywords: The Event Beach: October edition!
I created this area to be a space for me to use holiday/seasonal decorations that I normally would not be using on my tropical themed island. This area is located on a little beach in between my airport and south river mouth (you can check out my updated map on the first page of this thread). Since its currently October, the Event Beach got a spooky makeover! Even though the update has only been out for a few days now I've collected all the halloween themed recipes already excluding the ones you get on Halloween night. I am debating on whether or not to buy a few of those items now so I can enjoy them for as long as possible in this area. Regardless, here is a peak at how it looks right now! I decided to use the same custom designs and palm trees, bamboo trees, etc like the rest of my island so this area wouldn't look too random. Even though its somewhat unconventional I think it looks great! The skull radio is playing Lucky K.K.
Updated the first post! Included some new pictures of what my island is looking like these days. I'd now say my island is about 70% ready to be turned into a DA. Can't wait until that day!
Description & more updates
Finalized areas previously featured in this journal include the oasis, dig site, luau venue, fishermen's village, my house, public beach, and my neighborhood. These areas are pretty much the same as pictured, with a few minor furniture changes. I don't plan on making any more major changes to these areas. Additionally my island entrance landscape is still the same as pictured here but now has more decorations. I'm still playing around with various furniture combinations so I will wait to post a picture.
New areas previewed in my first post update include the new downtown (I've been working on a downtown/market place since starting this journal in the summer and went through many design phases until settling for a small village aesthetic), new National Park (still a WIP), new campsite (actually made this last fall but never posted pictures), and new luau venue transition area (not pictured).
I decided to simplify my island landscape a lot more by reducing the amount of small nooks and awkward spaces to make my island look cleaner. Although it may make my island feel smaller, I really like this aesthetic a lot. Hopefully I'll be able to post more pictures to show what I mean!
Hope you appreciate this mini update, I can't wait to post more!
ā˜€ Welcome to Maui ā˜€
YO what's up!!! I finally finished my island and I am updating the first post as we speak! Although please be aware the interiors of the houses are not done (and a couple other things lol)
There are a few other things that need tweaking but I decided to post this anyways. I am so excited to finally share this with you all, and this is now my semi official Island as of ACNH version 1.11 or whatever before the major update in November 2021. I worked so hard on this island and I hope y'all enjoy. Eventually I'd love to make a video tour since I'd like to explain certain areas of my island but for now you can refer to the brief description I wrote in Jan 2021 on the first post.
Thanks for following this journal and welcome to Maui!!! <3
IMG_1344.JPG
PS. Once Version 2.0 comes out of COURSE I will be changing a few things (including finishing my house interiors) and will post updates about that here :)
