Island reset?

I'm unsure if I want to reset my island or not because I have a very specific elegantcore/cottagecore design in mind, but I love all of my villagers, have made tremendous progress on my museum and I have tons of items. The only downside is getting rid of the overflow of flowers everywhere on the island. I wish running on top of them would get rid of them. How would you all suggest I proceed? Thanks!

there are many reasons to reset your island.
Having too many flowers is not one of them.

Go get a trash can, a few shovels, and start digging

Oof, had the same problem. Flowers seem to be an incredibly invasive plant species in the Animal Crossing world, though I still wouldn't recommend resetting over having too many of them. Getting rid of them is tedious, so to make it more fun, I recommend putting on some music while you shovel and throw them away. If you want flowers after getting rid of them, I also recommend enclosing them with shrubs, or any fencing.

I kinda want to do an island reset, but I still haven't caught one bug and one fish to complete the collections. I also don't want to lose my inventory and Cataloguing I did. One of these days I'll buy an extra ACNH game so I can start over and not lose my stuff.

Also you don’t have to clear up the entire island at once! I am completely restarting over all my builds because I wanted a complete overhaul of my island and instead of flattening everything right away I just cleared the space I needed. I especially like this method because my build ‘bled into’ some of the old cliffs I had standing and a cute little bubble tea shop I had built for my previous island and I ended up keeping the new shape it created because it was very natural and unique!

Unless there’s something major and unavoidable about your current town layout that prevents you from switching to this cottagecore theme, I’d recommend sticking with it. However annoying moving flowers is (I feel your pain!), it’s far less annoying than going through the motions of making a new island, gathering the materials for the shop, getting it to three stars to unlock terraforming, etc. Besides, the longer you’ve been playing on an island for, the more attached you feel to it and the more likely you are to stick with it when you run into design roadblocks. I reset my town every 5 seconds in New Leaf and it’s something I really regret, because I never made enough progress on any of them to feel satisfied with the design because I defaulted to starting from scratch every time I ran into an issue or inconvenience that I could have worked through because of my perfectionism, since after the 3rd or 4th time resetting once more didn’t feel like a big deal at all. Like you say, building up your museum, making connections with your villagers, and so on takes time and effort that is so difficult to build back after resetting. good luck <3

Hey good luck with the flower clearing!! I just want to add that it helps to get your fortune read by Katrina until you have good luck with belongings. Then you won't have to worry about your shovel breaking

I agree with everyone else here! Don’t reset due to the overgrown flowers. I have spent hours cleaning the flowers off my island. It’s tedious and annoying, but way better than redoing everything and doing the grindy start of the game. Heck if you pay me enough tbt i’ll get rid of all your flowers lol
