One thing I was really hoping for in ACNH was that they would add tiers again but since its an island.. what do you think the terrain will be like? Probably the same as New Leaf, huh? Minus the beach cliffs.

Going off previous footage, there was a map image showing what appears to be a cliff area. Personally I do not really care for the cliffs, but since the town is seemingly bigger than New Leaf, some extra, separate space may be nice.

I can't see how it would be anything other than a flat island.

We're surrounded by water.

Neat! Thank you! I remember seeing something in the trailer?? Like maybe Fauna and Peanut were standing in front of a cliff or something? I could be wrong.

I hope there is a cliff so at least one side will be different.

This means it's not acually an island if it has a back wall. o_O

I haven't really looked at this map before. One thing I'm excited about is the fact that rivers diverge again. That adds so much more variety to different town layouts.

One thing that's disappointing is how square and unnatural the island looks. I would have preferred some more variety in how islands are shaped. I guess we haven't seen what every island possibility looks like yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the only shape available. Having a square shape made sense in the other games, but not when you're surrounded on all sides by water. It looks like one of the randomly generated maps in Tropico 4 and I don't like it.

I hope my post didn't come off too negative though. I'm really happy they added cliffs and diverging rivers again. Adds a lot of new options for designing my town.

I've never liked the town maps that have three sections. I like massive areas where I can put my villagers and what not.

The river dividing like that makes three smaller areas. I hope not all the island maps are split like that. :(

That is certainly agreeable. It almost seems to be a format thing at this point. Seeing as how we have had island map variations in the past with GameCube, I do not see why this cannot be adapted as well given we might be going back to the tier system. I could see not being aware of the different variations at the start as a negative, but showing us map previews like in New Leaf would negate that.

On the topic of the cliffs diverging:

Hmmm. Another port to get to another island? Though there's already one at the beach. I just can't see shops being beyond that, in a city type environment.

Ofc there's no city over there, the map that was displayed shows the entire island surrounded by waters on each side. However, there may be something there and I am intrigued by what it could be.

Also, I do prefer the squareness of the island but I think the bumpiness varies for each island.

That's why I said it could be another port for a seaplane or a boat to take us to another island where there are shops like Main Street. ^_^

That seems plausible.

I currently cannot say how the terrain works regarding the northern part of the island. I don't know what could be put there. It's a weird design situation as far as I can tell.

The only thing I can imagine right about the northern part of the island is that this will be the area where the Main Street 2.0 is located. Like that the cliffs there kinda separate this area from the main island, like how the train track can be seen as a border to the Main Street and the actual town in New Leaf. Otherwise, I have no clue how the division of the map will be or what else that northern part could be.

I would love that, as I'd hate to lose Kicks, The Dream Suite, and even Club LOL.

I couldn't care less about The Happy Home Showcase. I never used it, it was a massive waste of space. ^_^

Well, since Streetpass is not a thing anymore with the Switch, I guess a return of the Happy Home Showcase is unlikely, unless they gonna bring it back in a different version where the online function is now in need. Whatever they gonna do, I just hope Digby gets a better job this time than he had in New Leaf.
