Today I was brainstorming about different island themes and what kind of villagers would go well with those themes. I came up with one theme based on the American Southwest and another centered around a Zoo theme, and I made sure that all the personalities were represented at least once. I would love to hear your ideas for themes and what villagers you think would best suited for those themes and why! 😊

The villager ideas for an American Southwest based Island:
1. Avery (Cranky)- His design reminds me of petrographs that are present throughout the Southwest.
2. Clay (Lazy)- Likewise, Clay’s design also reminds me of petrographs and clay-based adobe houses and pots.
3. Coco (Normal)- Her design kind of reminds me of a cactus or a desert rock. She’s also a nice earthy color, perfect for the desert.
4. Buzz (Cranky)- He reminds me of a Red-Tailed Hawk or Cooper’s Hawk, both which are present in the Southwest ecosystem.
5. Kevin (Jock)- With his baby boar colors, he reminds me of a baby javelina. :)
6. Pashmina (Sisterly)- Goats thrive in arid environments, so I think she’d be happy in the desert.
7. Anabelle (Peppy)- While she’s based on a pangolin, she also looks a lot like an armadillo.
8. Lopez (Smug)- Although he’s based more on an African antelope, he’s my stand-in for the Pronghorn Antelope.
9. Sandy (Normal)- Other than her name, I think Sandy is perfect because she also reminds me of a Roadrunner. Plus there’s also a lot of ostrich farms in the Southwest.
10. Violet (Snooty)- She reminds of a lot of those rich old ladies that love going to Santa Fe and bedazzling themselves with the turquoise jewelry there. For sure she’ll be my resident artist.

Additional villagers that I think would go well with the theme are: Lucha, Stinky, Tucker, Kyle, Beau, Sparro, Paula, Butch, Grizzly, Amelia, Angus, and Timbra.

As for my Zoo theme, it’s based on exotic animals (so nothing domesticated like cats or dogs), with a wide variety of species, and ones that have more natural colors or are based on other types of animals:
1. Antonio (Jock)- Based on a Giant Anteater.
2. Zell (Smug)- Based on a Blackbuck Antelope.
3. Boone (Jock)- Based on a Mandrill.
4. Juila (Snooty)- Based on a Peacock.
5. Bianca (Peppy)- Based on a Snow Leopard.
6. Elvis (Cranky)- Based on an African Lion.
7. Flora (Peppy)- Based on a Flamingo.
8. Shari (Sisterly)- Based on a Squirrel Monkey.
9. Papi (Lazy)- Based on an Okapi.
10. Sylvana (Normal)- Based on a Black-Footed Ferret.

Other animals that would fit this theme include: Amelia, Kitt, Deli, Tex, Gladys, Blanche, Anabelle, Phil, Hopper, Erick, Cranston, Drift, Leonardo, Rolf, Tank, Teddy, Grizzly, Dobie, Fang, Flip, Kyle, Lopez, Beau, Monty, Ozzie, Peewee, Rowan, Sandy, Tybalt, Vivian, Apollo, and Gonzo.

The American Southwest is such a good idea, since we have dirt and sand paths, and cacti plants! You could also make some really cool patterns for blankets or something to lay outside. It could even take a Mad Max or zombie turn if you wanted :0

I think maybe a circus idea would be fun!

Agent S/Big Top/Kid Cat/Rocket could be some kind of group that does gymnastics or trapeze
Marcel/Chester/Pietro could be a clown or mime trio
Clay/Boyd could be an odd couple strong-man duo
Alli, she just screams ringmaster to me for some reason 😂

Alternates: Francine/Chrissy could be some kind of dancing duo (or conjoined twins!) and Julian, in case you want to go a more magical route :3

I live in the American Southwest(Arizona) and horses were a big part of the region's history and a lot of people still own horses here.I think one of the more neutral colored horses like Elmer,Roscoe,Annalise or Winnie would be good villagers for this theme.

For the zoo theme;
1. Savanah looks like a zebra
2. Dizzy for an elephant in the zoo

Geeze, how could I forget Savanah!!! Okay, she's replacing Sylvana on my list for the Normal on my list. Thank you for that suggestion! :)

I love the horse suggestion. Actually Roscoe would be a great addition because he reminds me of the great Blucifer (The Blue Mustang statue from Denver's airport). A cursed horse in the desert is my kind of villager.

As someone who also lived in the southwest, coyotes were quite common. Vivian would work well for that.

i toyed with the idea of a fairytale (brothers grimm style) inspired island once, and i had the following ideas for villagers

1. dobie (cranky) - the wolf! although he's too cute to be considered bad.
2. cheri (peppy) - the cub from goldilocks and the three bears
3. billy (jock) - the three billy goats gruff
4. sherb (lazy) - the three billy goats gruff
5. pashmina (uchi) - the three billy goats gruff
6. blanche (snooty) - the swan princess
7. poppy (normal) - she just has little red riding hood vibes
8. henry (smug) - the princess and the frog
9. agnes (uchi) - the three little pigs
10. buck (jock) - donkeyskin

Have you ever heard of the fairytale "The Babbling Brook"? My grandma from Germany used to read that to me when I was little. It's about these two kids who run away from their witch stepmother into the forest so the witch curses all the water sources in the forest to turn them into animals when they drink from them and the brother ends up getting turned into a deer.

Cool idea, btw!

I've had this idea for a very long time, for an Alice in Wonderland themed island. I'm a great fan of the movie, the live-action and the books, which is why I've thought about this for a long time

O'Hare: The March Hare (perfect match)
Ruby: The White Rabbit
Dora: The Dormouse (or Mallymkun in the live-action)
Lolly: Dinah (Alice's cat)
Gala: The Pig Baby
Bob: The Chesire Cat (perfect match)
Butch: Bayard the Bloodhound
Chrissy and Francine: Tweedledum and Tweedledee
Tad: Frog Footman

I'd be more than glad to turn your villager ideas into images like the one I did here! Just tell me :)

I think Savannah will fit with the zoo theme, and can go with Papi and Zell in the same Savannah grassland area

Some of the alligator, elephant, and bears villagers have pretty natural colors so they could also be good candidates for you depends on your preference on species. If you are in southern hemisphere, you could also consider the Kaolas and Kangaroos for your zoo themed island;

For the American Southwest based island, one villager that immediately comes to mind is Apollo lol to me he is like the epitome of American representation- it also makes sense because the Americian southwest region (ex: Arizona) is home to many desert nesting bald eagles.
