Wasn't really expecting that reaction, but alright. ^^
I think the story could have a nicer hit to the feels if it weren't titled after the subject character. I actually didn't remember who Jambette was when I first clicked the link, so I was feeling all sad and stuff for this tortured soul - and only remembered at the very end who she was when she signed off with her name.
Short and well-written, and sad especially because I could totally see people doing this to Jambette. One of the saddest parts is that even if Jambette had the bells to move out, she'd probably end up in a town with a mayor who also hates her. Yep.

Ya but if it makes you feel any better, I only clicked on it cuz of her name, I feel like people only ever complain about her and I had a feeling it might be a fan story. TT It's really good!
I kinda did all that to Gruff (minus the pitfalls-I didn't have any to spare lol)...but he really deserved it. He had SOOOO many chances to leave and for MONTHS he kept changing his mind and torturing ME! So he deserved it. But, ya...Jambette isn't ugly to me. People are mean. Gruff was ugly AND a cranky...so ugh.

I don't fully understand all of the Jambette hate. She's nothing if not unique, and while I wouldn't go out of my way to obtain her I certainly wouldn't hit her (or any villager for that matter) with my net, or abuse her like that. Perhaps I have too much of a game conscience...
Anyway, I thought this was very well-written, and will likely stick in my mind for a while. Well done.

Jambette is a wonderful Normal frog. I've mentioned it before: frogs aren't supposed to be considered generally attractive.
The lips turn people off. I accept that.
I never gave Jambette the type of thought others have; the dismissive attitude of banishing Jambette because they figure she's ugly. This poem obviously speaks to that.
Jambette is a starting villager in my first town, Applewin, which I began following my purchase of the game in August 2013. She, along with the Jock duck Scoot and the Peppy bird Twiggy, are the remaining starting villagers from Applewin. Unless I make a mistake, I intend to keep all three. They're a part of the identity of the town just as the starters I will keep in Progress (the Cranky eagle Apollo) and in Temps (the Cranky cat Tom). In my second and third towns, I have chosen not to keep as many starting villagers as I had from my first. And this has to do with establishing Applewin for a lot longer (nearly six months longer than Progress). And it also has to do with the commitment of time building up that town.
Bringing this back to Jambette, and about her physical looks being deemed ugly by many, I think people can make of this game pretty much what they want. If one wants the most attractive cast of villagers, there is no reason one can't strive to achieve that. But I wouldn't find anything appealing with that goal as any substitute for having the stable, relatable, and terrific friend that is Jambette.

</3 Jambette is one of my favourite villagers. She was a starter in my very first town and I really don't get why people wouldn't like her just because of her lips. She is a great villager. This story makes me sad. I intend to keep Jambette in my town forever.
Reading that story made me angry. I'm sorry if I'm bumping this topic, but I need to get this off my chest. No villager, no matter how "ugly" they are, deserves that kind of torment EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. of their life. Her mayor is an evil, shallow, bigoted bully. After reading this, I can't possibly fathom why a ton of people still despise Jambette. In fact, the hate towards her seems to be stronger than ever.

amen... i dont get why people hate monique too... when i saw her in my camp i fell in love with her... only because the fact she was a cat... i didnt care that she was ugly... i thought she was cute so i took her in from someone else
