Hi! So I know that not many of you have probably not dealt with this issue with your Joy-Cons (LUCKY) but let me explain none the less. In July, I got Fortnite (I know, I'm ashamed as well). As time went on, I noticed that that my character would move to the left without my input (For those who don't know, this is called drifting). I thought it was just Fortnite, but now I've seen it in Skyrim, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. So it's safe to say that it isn't just Fortnite, sadly. I tried Nintendo's toothbrush trick under the rubber flap beneath the analog stick cap, and even shooting some compressed air, but to no avail. The worst part is that I know this was not an issue from day one. I looked it up and some people said that it started after they dropped them. I have dropped mine, but from off the couch, which is like 2 feet. I'm honestly too scared to even touch my Switch anymore because the effects have become almost nauseating to deal with. I tried a GameCube controller and the games run perfectly, so I don't think it's the Switch itself (Like I said, it only started a few months after I got it). Sadly, this is not a perfect fix, as Skyrim and Splatoon2 have Motion Controls and need more buttons.

Another problem is that it's the Neon Switch bundle, which means if I want to get the Left Blue and Red Right (Which I'm super adamant about), I have to fork over $200+ CDN (Blue AND Red pairs). Now I know, some people out of the 0.000001% that are reading this are like "Yo doofus, just call Nintendo. DUHHH!!!" The problem with that (I know, so many problems) is that since I live in Canada, calling Nintendo of America will cost me since I don't have long distance calls, which ruins the whole "free warranty" kind of thing.

There is literally no good way to go about this, so far. I would by a Pro Controller or an 8bitdo controller, but then I'm still left with a crappy handheld experience.

Like I said, I know this is a very specific problem that a lot of people don't deal with, but if you have any advice, please let me know. I just want to play my Switch without throwing the Joy-Cons out the window. Thank you so very much.

Maybe try recalibrating your joysticks? I had a somewhat similar problem like yours and recalibrating it just fixes it up. Let me know if that works or not!

My left joycon started drifting a month ago (Switch was over a year old when it started) but I ended up fixing them by lifting up the rubber flap thing and blowing inside. Seriously. I also tried manually cleaning under there too with a cloth on a pointy object. This probably isn’t the most graceful or safest way to do it (I’ve seen posts recommending compressed air since the moisture in your breath can damage metal or something like that) but it worked for me.

The drifting was horrible, I’d move up and it would bounce all over the place (I checked in the calibration menu) and now it’s completely gone.

Oh trust me, I’ve tried that too many times lol xD I?’ve even reset it to factory settings, which made them work for about 2 days before giving out again. But thank you very much, regardless!!

Ugh ikr?? My left joycon pushes me to the left, and nearly sabotages me so many times. And honestly, I don?t have much to lose at this point, so blowing into it might be a way out. I?ll probably have to replace them during the holidays...

The drifting on the joycons can get pretty bad. I have that issue on my Vita as well, but I've owned that one for 5 years or so. Very disappointed when I started getting the same problem on my Switch after only one year.
