I haven't been on the forums recently, but I'm back. So me not being on this forum for a couple months may cause this to be a post that has already been posted. While I do not have a Wii U, I do know there's Animal Crossing Plaza. I saw that it would no longer be available after the end of this year. Am I the only one who thinks it could possibly be because a new Animal Crossing game is in the making? Again, I apologize if this has been discussed already, I haven't been keeping up to date lately. I did, however, try to do some searching.
I don't really understand how the two could be related. I don't know why Nintendo removes things but they do.
There's pretty much no doubt there will be a new ac game, most likely for the Wii U, but it feels way to early. I mean obviously it will take years to develop but I hope they don't show any of it until it's almost time to be released because that 3 year wait for new leaf was just so unnecessary and cruel.
I think that them removing it is just a really unusual marketing strategy. If they remove it by the end of the year, it might convince people to buy Wii U's sooner. But I do think they would take into account how it would be outdated if they kept it out too much longer!
Of course there will be a new AC game eventually, but I doubt it'll be in 2015. My bet is 2016! New Leaf just came out 2 summers ago. It's easier to churn out new Pokemon games (of course I mean within the same gen), but new Animal Crossing games mean entirely new interfaces, villagers, furniture items, and zero backwards compatibility. In short, making a new AC game is quite the endeavor, and I think it would only be done once they've made significant enough technological advances in order to think they could make Animal Crossing better.
In comparison to, again, Pokemon, Animal Crossing has little plot involved. In that, I equate it to SSB! In Pokemon, they can make a new game, or a remake (cough cough ORAS, I'm so exciteddd), with no new pokemon or significantly better graphics, because there's a different storyline. In AC and SSB, the only reason they could have to make a new game is not a new or better plot, but rather, the new things they'd be capable of making happen in a new version because of their advancements over time.
TL;DR: nah i think it'll be a while, but that was some pretty awesome analysis on your part.
