okay, so i'm not completely sure about this, but are the 3ds charging dock and the 3ds charging port the same? because, i was just curious (i'm sorry if i sound absolutely ridiculous.)

They definitely are, they share the same cable!
The only difference between them is that the charging dock just sticks pins into your system to charge instead of going through the charge port itself to charge. Hope this answers your question! 
So, what's the point of the charging dock then? I literally only used mine once, just to see how it works. That was years ago, back when I very first got my aqua blue 3DS.
Actually do the other 3DS systems come with a dock? I bought an XL off of someone and it didn't come with a dock. She had most everything else thou.

no real point other than the convenience of not having to put the charger cable in every time, since slapping down on a surface is far quicker and easier (though it's honestly pretty worthless if you're like me and play a lot while connected to the charger)
and the xl dock was a club nintendo exclusive reward, from back when club nintendo was still a thing, iirc
that sold out near instantly
