Kaiaa's Clay Corner

Awesome things you have there! Best of luck with the new store, I'd totally get them all if I weren't so broke ^^

Hey everyone! Guess what!? You asked for them. You gathered up tickets upon tickets trying to be the first to get one. You asked me to make more. What could it be? The Leaf Pillows!

They're about $20 with shipping give or take. If you'd like one, please visit my etsy shop via the link in my signature. I am open to suggestion for other styles of pillows!

I've updated the OP with a couple more screenshots if you're curious :)

I can easily make them, you only need to ask :)

Are they quite strong ? :)
If you're asking about the charms, yes, I test each one by applying pressure and drop tests. They seem up to par. If you're referring to the pillows, I believe that the seams are strong. I've made one for myself before the Fair and it's yet to fray :)

Gyroids sound like an excellent idea. Do you have any in mind that you'd like to see?

I'm gonna give the cop-out answer and say "all". Just because I'd love to have a full irl gyroid set, since I kinda love their various quirky designs. Though I've no idea when I could spend THAT much. Honestly, I'd imagine it'd be something like me doing small batches over time if anything.

Definitely gonna have to get the pillow at some point though. By far my favorite fair item that I couldn't get. Hopefully next month is good money-wise.

I apologize for the potato quality but I've made a moogle at Gallows request! What do you think?

He's about an inch and a half tall display figure and is made of polymer clay and wire. If you have any requests for a piece like this feel free to PM me! <3 A piece like this would be around $14 for a one and a half - two inch figure, including Animal Crossing Villagers.

AHHH
how do you make those pillows????
I'ma plush maker myself so sewing things get me really excited ;v;

I drew a giant leaf and leaf vein pattern and cut it out. Then it gets pinned onto the fleece and I cut it out, sew it up, stuff and close it! They're a lot of fun to make to be honest. I haven't tried making any other plush items but I used to make teddy bears and pillows when I was in high school for people. I'd be interested if you have any tips on making plushies!

aww yiss pillows
and clay too ahh ; v ;

i haven't touched my clay in months OTL
I'll be sure to drop by your etsy when I get the funds <3

These are super cute, I just wanted to give a little tip, with polymer clay you can help to get the fingerprints out by wetting your finger and rubbing the surface, I usually do this and then freeze them to avoid getting more finger prints on them while I work. I look forward to seeing more of your creations because they are all very cute and tiny! I need to get back into making my own but I am been in such a rut lately...

Oh thank you so much! I actually had been getting a little frustrated that sometimes I'd leave fingerprints. I'll definitely have to try that when I make them next! I'm sure you can find some inspiration! Sometimes I'll look on Pinterest to get me in the mood of making something.

they might use your fingerprints to rob tom nook his bells,
and leave your print behind lol

I (wrongly) think you should put more effort into these bc they like you just threw on the first thing you made without taking the time to refine it. Flat things are blatantly just squished by fingers and not even flipped over, and a lot of them have nail indents too. A lot of things that should be semi-flat or at least level are not. Lots of colours are really off too (you're using mixable clay, not just white clay right?). Also almost all of the shapes for everything are unrefined. At the very least, you should take the time to make eyes round and similarly sized. I think (my opinion is wrong) that they only look decent because they're clay and everything looks good in clay.

This is just my opinion though and I am being very rude and overly critical.

I wouldn't ban you. I'll admit it doesn't feel very good to hear that but I already know I can improve so I'm not too bothered by your comment. I'm afraid that I don't see the nail indents you're talking about after looking over them again. Any "intents" you see are part of the charm, added for detail. I do agree that I need to clean them up a little better and work on my sizing. Thankfully, Kaydee was kind enough to give me advice on how to prevent minor errors, so all the ones sent out from now on will be cleaned up. Unfortunately, I actually did spend a lot of time making them. Each one was carefully thought out and created by hand. Also, I don't understand what you mean by "not even flipped over" There isn't any detail that needs to be seen from the back, in case you were wondering. As for the colors, it may be the lighting or your computer because the colors are actually spot on. I'm still pretty new at this lol At least I have the pillows. Since you know so much about clay, I'd like to see some of your examples and I'd appreciate some tips on what you've tried so that I can improve :)

I'm currently in the middle of making 2 leaf pillows that were ordered a couple days ago. They just need stuffed now! Thank you two for ordering, I can't wait to send these out to you! I'm looking to send out this week so keep an eye out for the package in the next week. <3

I will definitely be buying some earrings from you when I get paid and maybe a charm.....so CUTE. :blush:
