Keep Getting the Same DIY Recipes

So I have 858 out of the 922 DIY recipes but I am barely getting any new ones. It's been 6 days since I received something new. Is there something I am doing wrong? Or is it just that percentage- wise I have so many it makes it harder to get new ones. Granted, I am missing a lot of Celeste's recipes but I am missing about 45 regular, basic recipes. Just curious if anyone has he same problem.

I haven't been finding many new recipes lately either, though I know I'm definitely still missing some. I hope you don't mind me asking an additional question in your thread, but how do you know how many recipes you have learned? Do you just count them in your "DIY Recipes" app, or is there a Nook Miles achievement that makes it easier to count? Thanks!

mathematically, the fewer you have left to find, the LESS frequently new ones will show up, as there are now far more recipes you do have versus don’t for RNG to pick from. If you have Amiibo cards, you can always potentially get one extra character type specific non-food recipe each day by inviting a campsite visitor

That is true. When you invite villagers (using amiibo cards) you can get DIYS from them to craft them souvenirs that they would want to see. Its important to note that different villagers of personality types will give you different DIYS. Also I can confirm that the villagers do give you new DIYS that have been added since the 2.0 update.

Which are the ones you're missing? Some of them may be exclusive to a certain personality or event, which makes them harder to get. The floral ones are also harder to get, as they have a lower % chance than others.

If you're missing the "normal" ones, be sure to do the daily boat tour with Kapp'n (guaranteed recipe and can even help you with the Celeste ones) and visit as many Mystery Islands as you can/want (chance to spawn a bottle for each). For additional methods, if you have HHP you get an extra daily bottle and a daily food recipe and the amiibo trick @Insulaire mentioned.

Also don’t forget the hhp island for bottle and cooking recipe from restraunt. They help.

Yeah, it's bad RNG. When I was looking for the last 50 or so DIYs, I was getting one new DIY a week, two if I was lucky. The only way I was able to finish them was by visiting other people's islands, checking the crafting villagers and sometimes entering DIY giveaways. When I got to the last 10, I found someone on here who was giving them away. I just didn't have the patience to try with those last few.

It also doesn't help that before 2.0 my villagers were always crafting the basic DIY that Nook gives you when you start up the game. Or ones that could be bought as a package deal from the Nookling's cabinet. Those should've been excluded from the villager crafting list.

it just sounds like bad RNG, i’m afraid. i’ve been experiencing the same thing myself. i check which villager is crafting 3 times a day, pick up any and all bottles that wash up on the beach (on my own island, nook mile islands, kapp’n islands, hhp, etc), check to see what my hhp restaurant’s chef is cooking every day, etc and yet i still rarely get anything i actually need, and now it seems like i’m just getting the same recipes/diys every time, too — seafood pizza, coconut milk, pizza margherita, over and over. it’s almost disheartening, to the point that i’ve started to just trade for what i’m missing. i’m still gonna try and get what i can + the seasonal diys myself, but if someone has a diy i want and i have something they want? you can bet i’m gonna trade for it lol.

Thats why I stopped bothering with the DIYS because they just keep giving me the same ones that I already know. This would not bother me so much if you would get DIYS that you haven't learned yet.

They could have had the pool of possible DIYs that the game chooses from reduce as you collect more. For example, when you've learned 100 recipes, they remove 50 of the ones you already have from the pool. When you hit 200, they remove another 50 etc. It's still random, and you're still not guaranteed a new one every time, but at least the odds would be more in line ...

I'm down to needing about 30 now, and that still includes 5 of the flower DIYs that have been around from the start !! My stubborness makes me want to get them all myself though !!

They should've made Wisp more useful and that he'd give us a new diy that we don't have. It's random of course, but each time you help him he gives a new one. I like your idea to though!

I really enjoy getting most items and diys in the game myself, so the diys sort of bother me too. I am down to lacking 19 regular ones, and that is partly thanks to trading in here... I feel like I get one new for every hundred diys I pick up, probably less than that, but it takes way too long. I have decided just getting the rest through a service as I am sick of wasting time collecting them... A bit of a letdown when they could have coded this differently and guaranteed a new one more often. I do like the sharing aspect of it, but they really overdid it.

Same issue here. Since they added so many new DIYS it makes it hard to even obtain them since I still get the older ones that have been in the game since day one. I just lost my patience and I don't really bother with it anymore.

If you have Nintendo Online, check out the Nook’s Cranny forum. There are people giving away diys and some selling them for NMTs or bells or tbts. I do have a diy giveaway thread posted there.
