Anyone else stoked for this game? It's coming out on March 16th. A friend and I are planning on getting it and playing through together.

Demo came out today in Europe, and I'm hearing mixed reactions. Seems the AI makes the game too easy and the 30 fps is throwing some people for a loop. Anyone here play the demo and can give their thoughts? Ik I can get a European account and play it myself but I'm too lazy :p

I've never been the biggest fan of Kirby tbh. I'm gonna download the demo once I get back home tomorrow.

I've pre-ordered the game because I like the Kirby games. I'm not a HUGE fan or anything but they're fun to play through and it's a nice multiplayer game which my little cousins can play easily without having to worry about the difficulty of the game. Hopefully they will have something for the more experienced player to enjoy.

I played the demo a couple of hours ago and I gotta say, It's a very good looking game. Visuals are really nice indeed. I think that's the thing that stood out the most during my first playthrough. That and how easy it was. There's two stages, one easy and one "hard". They're both really easy thanks to your allies who pretty much do all the work for you. They beat up enemies and bosses, they burn down the tall grass to find goodies and they blow up walls to find hidden passages revealing even more goodies. The allies are just too good and I can see this becoming a problem for some of us.

Other than that it plays pretty much the way you would expect it to play. It's a Kirby game for good and bad. I'm gonna play the demo a bit more because despite the lack of challenge, I did enjoy it quite a bit. Hopefully I can try out multiplayer too.

Thanks for your feedback. They released it for the states so I downloaded the demo last night and am gonna try it today. :D It may become an "on sale" purchase for me but I'll probably still get this eventually.

Kirby just seems to boring, there isn’t really any platforming, just attacking weak enemies and copying abilities as you go from point A to B. I remember not liking Amazing Nirror because it just felt like a maze, but comparing it to more recent Kirby games, at least it provided a challenge. And the fact that you can have up to 4 players at a time makes it even easier. I’m not sure if there’s a way to drop a friend once you throw a great other than it dying, but it just makes the game even easier than what it is.

THE DEMO MADE ME CRY i cry really easily but when i saw that you can just unfriend a partner and they disappear and when you get rid of a partner they literally just poof into thin air i got REAL sad. like how messed up is that? this is a kirby game??????????????????????????///////// not in MY kirby game

at least the beach level music was awesome

i also noticed this!!!!!!! this is why you need real people to be playing instead of the computers else it does just become really unchallenging. and sadly you can't play alone either because for some stages you need four people to help with pulling levers/blocks etc.

Okay so I finished the game and as good as the game is, it doesn't offer a lot of content.

At first, I thought Kirby Star Allies might be worth purchasing at some point during Switch's lifespan when its asking price goes down. But then I've read several reviews and coverage about the game, it feels like just a generic Kirby title, with level design that doesn't bother taking much advantage of the main new gimmicks.
Doesn't help that I already own several mainline Kirby installments that I haven't got around finishing them.

Being a huge Kirby fan, I hated this game. Just the same old same old without fixing anything. Forced gimmicks, forgettable music, and even blander than usual stages. The collectibles were very easy to find, and I already 100% completed the game yesterday. I'll probably never buy a Kirby game ever again, as the series has been going downhill for a long while, and only had a brief renaissance a few years ago.

I played the demo stages. My only other experiences with Kirby games were Kirby's Epic Yarn, which I loved, and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, which I didn't really like. This one had very pretty visuals, but I just didn't find myself that interested in the gameplay, it was really easy and mostly uninteresting. However, I can imagine it would be more fun with friends! There are lots of games I love that are pretty much only fun with friends, such as Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. (very cute game, check it out) Ultimately, I don't see my self purchasing Star Allies, likely because I'm spoiled from all the great stuff Nintendo has been putting it out for the switch. Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey were revolutionary for their respective series, but this just seems like more of the same. However, I did find myself hoping that all the trees in Animal Crossing for switch would look as beautiful and textured as Whispy Woods, haha.
I'm a sucker for gimmicks. I thought it was the coolest thing ever when I found out that at the end of the game, your joycons play the kirby song.

A question to the people who played the game: Is it true that it's really that easy, like with no
big challenges at all? I only saw so far two videos with some gameplay of it on YouTube and
heard many times that people think that the game is so easy that you have the story finished
within a short time. I'm asking because I plan to buy a Switch and wanted check out some
games which I might want to buy and I don't want to waste money on a game where I only
have a few hours of fun of it (Note: I played some Kirby games back then, mostly the ones
for the GBA and Kirby Air Ride for the CG). So, would you recommend Star Allies or rather
not. I like Kirby and found that Star Allies looks good, but now reading some reviews of it
kinda changes my opinion on it. :/

I really like it thus far. I bought it today and I'm having a blast! I love the new "friends" feature; albeit, that makes it a bit too easy...

It's fun if you want to play a cutesy, fun game to unwind to. Otherwise, it's really easy. But that's why I play Nintendo games: to unwind. Except for Xenoblade and Fire Emblem of course.

With how much I like Kirby, I can't really feel disappointed about the game. Instead, I feel like I need more gameplay. More levels, more bosses, more puzzles to collect pieces for, and higher difficulty.

Things that somewhat bothered me:
-Kirby games are normally easy until you try to beat it 100%, but this one was strangely easier than any other I've played. I actually struggled to get 100% in Kirby's Epic Yarn, which I thought was the easiest game in the series.
-My brother and I together completed the game too fast. Likely due to the point mentioned above.
-For the first time ever (I think?) the game does not reset your lives when you turn it off. This isn't necessary with how easy the game already is and it just reminds me of New Super Mario Bros. 2 since it had an issue with too many extra lives.
-There isn't a replayable cut-scene when you complete the game 100%. It's just a picture you will never see again.

But with all that said, I still enjoyed the game and hope there could be more levels added in the future. I'm somewhat excited for the update that will come in about a week which adds more characters.

One question: is it necessary to use the allies at all times? Because from what I’ve seen there’s a few parts where you NEED them, but can you pretty much play the game solo and pick them up whenever the necessary parts come or do you always have to have them?

It's generally a good idea having at least one ally following you the entire time, since you won't know when you'll need him/her. When playing alone or with one friend, the teamwork sections would always necessitate two players to cooperate. If you don't have a single ally by the time you reach said section, you could always backtrack to find a foe to befriend.
