Kitty item and pets

I really love the puppy item in the game from your mom (I think), and I was wondering if there is a kitty version as well, or perhaps will be with the new update?

If not, does anyone know of some cute cat items in game, or that are coming in the update?

Also, are you able to keep pets? I've seen some others have turtles around, so I thought maybe that could be somewhat of a pet system.

Any info would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I haven't heard of anything, besides some cat good like a cat tower, fish rug, food/water I believe

The mitten crab comes in a open top box if you place it in a room, i know its not like a pet but its one of few animals able to interact with as furniture.

horseshoe crabs also come without a tank like the snapping turtle, they don't really Do anything as they're just decoration but they do look really funny when placed with a dog house/pet food bowl/etc.

for cat stuff specifically you might also like these custom designs for umbrellas! they're pretty clever and the best we can do right now lol (link to designer's twitter, creator id MA-8569-4772-9405)

There's not many pets and no pet system. There's two puppies - Mom's plushie, which is a sewn toy, and the Toy Day (Christmastime) puppy plushie which is another toy but moves a bit and barks. I definitely use it as a pet. There's a hamster cage with a hamster inside that is pretty cute, too. The snapping turtle you fish and has no box or cage and can be a stationary pet. Crickets and grasshoppers are in little wooden cages... fish are generally in tanks (the goldfish unfortunately doesn't have a clear bowl, but can still work.) There's also a birdcage diy that has a bird inside.

One of Gulliver's gifts is a Lucky Cat which can be customized to be either black or white. Even though it's a decor item, I've used it as a pretend pet.

The turtles you've seen are just snapping turtles people have place (i.e. they fished them up and placed them like furniture). They snap if you press A by them, but otherwise that's all the do. They might have some slight, repetitive movement when placed but I don't spend much time looking at mine, lol. Horseshoe crabs and spider crabs are also cage free when placed- the horseshoe crabs even flip over when you press A by them (can't remember if the spider crab does anything).

Otherwise, the puppies work as "pet" dogs and I've seen custom designed umbrellas that look like pet cats from the right angle. I don't have the info to find them, though. TBH, while I'll keep one of the catchable critters as pets, the idea of a pet dog or cat in Animal Crossing is just too bizarre for my tastes

But, yah, pets aren't a thing unless you count placed items as pets. And I can't imagine they'd change that in the next update.

How are those umbrellas? Those are amazing! So cute.

I usually just use Lucky Cat in my house to be my cat or the paper tiger. I'll have a combo of those and puppy toys and mom's plushes.

I don't believe any cat items are coming into the game I would love some cat plushies though that would be so cute.

Me and the gf have Raphael and Muffin the snapping turtles. Muffin has her own room in my gf's house while Raphael has a doggy house by the pool outside my place.

There's also Scuttle my Horseshoe Crab.
