Knitting

I bought a bunch of stuff to learn how to crochet with but I got frustrated with it because I couldn't get past the 2nd row of stitches, something about how the 3rd row is done confused me a lot and I haven't been able to figure it out, I do want to learn but it's kind of hard learning on my own without anyone to guide me. Maybe I'll try again :)

Thank you!! A fox amigumuri is cute as well! And oh same, I’ve been looking through some patterns as well, my next project is a cat :] I’m also going to be gifting my friends and boyfriend some crocheted amigurumis, I feel it’s a really cheap but heartfelt gift, and it’ll push me into practicing more!
If you (or anyone here hehe) have some resources for amigurumis, I’d be more than thrilled to take a look at them!
I can send you the patterns I have! 🤩 and those sound like really special gifts, I'm sure they will love them!

My mother taught me to knit back when I was young- I really wanted to knit a blanket as part of some charity event thing (I think?). I can do plain, purl, woven traverse. I might edit in a picture later, atm I am just knitting a throw for my new couch. It's a good way to save some bucks and relax in my down time. Nothing better than some music or a movie whilst knitting.

The crochet thread is thriving, so I thought it might be time to resurrect the knitting thread.

Lifelong knitter here - I began when I was 5; we don't talk about how long ago that was.

I'm currently finishing up a pair of socks for my brother. After that, I have a lace scarf and a shawl for myself I want to work on, then another pair of socks for my youngest brother and hats to set aside for nieces and nephews next winter.

Started knitting again and currently working on a Shawl called The Aurora Cabin Shawl. It's a Hiberknitalong 2022 that started on Dec. 26th. Just finished Section 3 and starting on Section 4 tonight.

I tried crochet a million years ago but couldn't "get it". Maybe i would've done better if I knew someone who could do it well?
I do better at sewing ( though basic and by hand, machines make it complicated). Knitting/crocheting are awesome things though. If you can do it, you can make all kinds of cool stuff for yourself and as gifts. I think Etsy has a ton of neato blue prints for knitting.

I took a knitting class with my mom when I was in high school.. I only ended up making two scarves that I never finished because I simply did not know how to get them off the needles and finish them off. I think we missed that one class? 😝

I haven't knitted since but I kinda miss it, it's a lot easier than it looks. Well.. when you're making scarves, anyway.

By Stephen West? I love his patterns!
Yes. Early 2022 I started watching his Youtube videos and got back into knitting. Those videos are well done and love that he releases video with his new patterns. Shawl Smorgasbord is my favorite release this year and completed with beach colours.

Binding off is a little confusing/scary at first, but you should be able to find a YouTube or blog tutorial that can help. Or just go into a yarn shop; the staff is always glad to help someone who is stuck. :)

Most of the stitches, even the fancy stuff, is pretty easy once you break it down.

I'm still slogging on these socks. They are going to look great, when finished, but I have to admit I'm getting a bit sick of them. Sometimes I wish I could wriggle my nose/blink my eyes and magically make them finish.

Socks are blocked, ends woven, and all set for giving to my brother!

Now I can work on something for myself. :)

I don’t knit but I sew a little. It’s pretty handy to know and relaxing when you do have time for it. I wanna make plushies. Gonna go to an embroidery group soon.

I do not know how to knit, but i'd love to. My sister crochets & I sew.

I started by learning to crochet in a class, but I really wanted to learn how to knit. I taught myself from a book and pictures, and realized about 10 years later when I really wanted to make Harry Potter scarves, that I had learned backwards (I think I was twisting all my stitches, or maybe knitting through the back of my loops). Anyway, by the time I came back to it, the internet had bloomed and there were so many video tutorials online! So that was incredibly helpful. And it was kind of cool for upping silly girls to take up knitting as a hobby, so I found a lot of college friends and things to share my knitting love with!
I like making things that fit me, that have unique patterns, but that actually look fashionable and not like something your aunt with poor sense of current tastes would make. Socks, sweaters, hats, cardigans, baby toys… one time I knit a tie because that seemed interesting. Arm warmers, phone cases, pants, skirts, I mean the possibilities are endless! I saw a cool knitted wire fence once. And then for the movie Coraline there’s a cool feature the about micro knitting and how someone made all those little sweaters for the stop motion puppets. So many cool things!
